General Bravo JTD: Should I buy one?

Personally for me I wouldn't, I just don't feel they do mileage well but plenty of people would disagree.

I paid £1650 for my Brava SX 100 JTD from an auction 12 months ago with 33k on the clock and in "excellent" condition. I know I got lucky though.

Lol, you're right. Just going to have to wait a little longer, if anyone spots any good ones, I'm all ears.

Thanks for all the advice.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention. There was a black JTD HLX on ebay with 35000 miles, full fiat service history, 1 lady owner. Buy It Now price was about £2800 but only bid was £1990 (reserve not met).

HLX JTD's are probably the most valuable bravo's, and that sounds like a good one. if we're already at the point where an example like that is only getting £2k bids, it means bravo's are pretty worthless :(

Yeah, I really can't understand why their so worthless. Thinking of pushing the boat out for the hlx with an offer of about £2300. Sound good?

if you've got the cash and you want it, then go for it :)

for the same money you could get a very rough mk4 golf, or an average focus, so although its a lot of money for a bravo, its still a bargain compared to the competition, and still a great car.

Does anyone know how many Bravo JTD's were produced? Still on the look out, but I only see a new one up for sale every month, could take me sometime to find one. People who own one must love them so much they never want to sell their one's :)

Picked my Heraldic blue jtd 100 hlx for 3k last august ,its still low milage at 46k on a 2001 y.
Got it from a Fiat Dealer ,love the car to bits reliable ,economical and all the extras.
I used to have a hgt 155 that did about 29 mpg and the insurance and tax was higher .
So now i get 50 mpg and save about 400 quid a year .(y)

I spoke to a mechanic at a local garage recently, and he warned me off buying a JTD because of their reliability and that they can be very expensive to fix.

I'm starting to have doubts about buying a bravo altogether now. Can anyone restore my faith? Would a 1.2 be a wiser choice (reliability / expense -wise).

No doubt he told you to buy something better like a focus or an astra :bang:

just because he has greasy hands it doesnt mean he knows his arse from his elbow. the JTD is a great engine, just read the reviews and ask anyone who owns one.

:) . The bloke recommended getting a fiesta or an escort, but they are just too dull and ordinary for me. The reviews on parkers are pretty good, but I still don't understand why they sell for so cheap. If there's any bravo JTD owners / previous owners, please get in touch.
