Hi

got a problem with my 1997 Bravo. The dipped beam headlights don't come on on the second turn of the lights column. I've checked the fuses, and the bulbs and they're fine. Full beam is also fine on flash, and switched - all four 50W bulbs alight.

I've checked the Haynes manual and there's a reference to a "dipped beam relay". I can't hear any relay click on the second turn, so I'm now assuming this has failed. I've asked Fiat (Desira Hayes) to get me one - no reply after three days. Its not referred to in my Fiat manual.

Anyone had the same problem?? and am I looking in the right direction?? I'd rather diagnose this myself than allow Fiat to do it.

Thanks in advance for any comments/advice

Neil

I assume you mean normal headlights? If so exacly the same thing happened to me about 2 weeks ago. After much changing bulbs fuses relays etc took it to a car spark who told me the headlight switch was broke, thats were the fun begins.
A new headlight stork is about 140 quid from fiat and is an absoloute w***er to fit.It comes as a complete unit and you have to take airbag, steering wheel of to replace. Also dont just go and get any from a scrapyard the wiring changed on later models(so fiat told me)so make sure if you go to a scrappy get a 97 one of a bravo or brava only.mera etc are diffrent again.
Luckily i found a 97 bravo in liverpool with the unit on,took ages to get it off(also be carful of the wrapped up wire sensors under the steering wheel, they look expensive to replace if they come unravelled).
Best bet if your not due an M.O.T yet is to link the sidelights into the headlights on the fusebox and make sure you get the job done b4 your m.o.t.
hope this helps cheers

By the way polecat and co who gave me advice on fixing my problem,Thanks very much,Anthemmaster
By the way i only got charged 15 quid for the whole headlight wiper switch unit, which was nice!!usually scrappys charge about 30 quid.
