i know this polish guy that works at a bodyshop i go to when ever i want anything doing, just recently my mate had a job done their which required the car to be buffed afterwards... because his english is very bad he always gives demonstrations of what he means...

as he was demonstrating , he kept saying "2000 then buffing"

what is this 2000 he speaks of ? im guessing its some kind of laquer ? i really dont have a clue.

i would of asked him but if i did id still of been their now trying to figure out what he was saying :)

anyone ?

thanks a lot

yes 2000 is the finest of the wet and dry, but you go over it with 3000 trizact then g3 and finish it with machine glaze,(to get the swirls out) its all about going down the grades, they start at 40's and end at 3000's

Yea, will be 2000 grit wet and dry on a block to get runs out of the paint.
You be a long time getting runs out with 2000 :)
2000 is very fine, it is used to flat paint (if needed) this removes some of the gloss so you then have to use ever finer abrasive liquids to regain the polish.

2000 will not remove heavy snotters, tsunami's etc i dont get them but if you do hit them with the 1200's of 1500's then 2000's. The 2000's are to only remove dirt ingress (shiite) dust that may settle on the surface, and orange peel,
