hey fellas

bodyshops quotes are abit of a grey area to me. we got a grey(more silver to me) mk2 punto and it needs a respray on the drivers door, rear quarter panel and maybe a bit of sanding/filler work if i dont do it myself. how much am i looking at for that kinda work?

im located in west bromwich so places like birmingham and wasall/wolverhampton are ideal if anyone has any reccomendations.

small independent garages near me charge around £75 per panel, main dealers are double, ask around your friends for reccomendations, drive about look in yellow pages and get 3 quotes and ask too see some of their work, Ant!

cheers ant, sounds reasonable i shall do that. i just needed a rough idea so i know if i was being robbed or not

They must be using poor quality paints and laquers to do jobs for £75 per panel . or like working for free.
im an ATA registered paint n body repairer and i charge £160 per panel .

and to be honest 1 panel isnt worth the time it takes at that price .
cost of materials for 1 panel
£10 primer 1ltr
£12 for base coat 1/4ltr
£10 for activator min you can buy is 1/2 ltr
£15-£20 for a cheap brand 2k laquer 1/2 ltr
then there is sanding materials
body filler/stopper's
masking tape
masking paper
heat to dry the paints
g3 polishing compound to clean any dirt out of the finished paint

those prices are all cheap brand paint and materials so at £75 per panel must be rough job's .
