Lots... nasty crease in the sill..... around £1k if you're lucky for a proper job.

new sill skin is cheaper than filler though :)

Yea but you know like I do he gonna pay loads more than £300 for a proper job just on the sill then theres the other damage, assuming the floor isnt a bit bent...

Oh dear! thats a simple repair, i would get 2 hours to repair and 1.5 paint, plus max £100 materials, new sill? £300 was a good estimate dave! Ant!

Not what it would be costing his Insurer I bet...

You & dave may well be right for a Private fix, if the OP chooses that route.

I had an insurance quote of £1,300 inc VAT for a side spray job after some tart keyed my daughters Ibiza, no panel damage, just paint... Private quote was £350. Body shops rip insurers off, & the OP did ask for estimates, I stick by my statement for an Insurance job based on experience.

I sold the Ibiza by the way.... Sorted!... (y)

not going down the insurance route as its due for renewal next month and I've only got 3 yeas no claims unprotected so the premiums would sting me, plus my excess is £250 vol + £250 compulsory! thinking maybe buying a side skirt and filling the gaps, then paying to get it resprayed???

maybe some of these??

any ideas???

Its an option, make sure you treat any exposed metal in the damaged area before you cover it up though or rust will eat it...

The estimate i gave was accurate and would be checked by insurance company, if you can repair instead of replace they are happy, after all we are called panel beaters not panel fitters, we can not rip off insurance companys, they want detailed reports and pics as proof of repair, and will knock of any time as they see fit, Ant!

:yeahthat: looks like a simple job to do.

outer sill is usually more decorative than anything anyway, new panel won't cost much so whole panel can be cut out, new one welded in or just a section cut out and new section welded in. will be as good as/better than new.

I don't know how you managed to get a quote of £1,300. that's pretty much whole car respray price. not even insurance companys would be happy with that sort of price!

Not if I was buying it as a used car, on a car that age I'd want a new sill on it properly treated for anti-corrosion inside as well as out etc, not some botched up back street effort....

I didnt "manage" to get it, that was Inc VAT... metallic silver using original genuine VAG paint & it was what the body-shop quoted... , but £350 as a Private job.

:eek:ahh..... just had a quote for £1890!!! bloke trying to convince me I need a new door!!! does he think I was born yesterday???!!!!:bang::mad:

Cant wait for antsuno2 & maddogmorg to see that.. No surprise to me though.

Of course you have rejected that quote & you're still looking for someone who will do a proper job for reasonable money?

Make sure any quote is fully itemised so you actually know what will be done for any agreed price, despite what some think there are sharks out there...
