hi, i only recently bought my punto mk2, but when i went to buying it was raining really badly. after getting home and it drying off i noticed there were quite a few little windscreen chips about 2/3mm deep on the bottom of the drivers side of the glass. is there anything i can buy to make them not so obvious? ive seen little gazebos croping up on supermarket car parks saying "free windscreen repair" and a little foreign man sitting on a stool with a toolbox. would you trust him? and do you think itll really be free?
any help would be great, cheers

Welcome to the forum!!! (y)

Are you 3rd party insurance or fully comp?

Fully comp will allow you to make a claim and someone like Autoglass will repair it for you. It wont affect your NCB. Its sometime free or £50 (dependent on you excess)

My local parts shop sell something at £25 to do a DIY on your windscreen but iv never used it..

Dont know about the free stuff!
Cheers

I had a stone make a nice chip in my windscreen a while back, just rang my insurance company and as I had windscreen cover, they sent some guy out who filled it. If they can't fix it as s786m said it is normally about £50 to replace it, and shouldn't affect your NCB.

A number of years ago I used a kit that injects some resin into the screen after you fit a cup over the chip and use a syring to pull a vacuum. It was a faf but worked not as well as I had hoped the chip was still visible. Tbh the guys that do this for a living with the correct equipment do a far better job and fairly cheap too. They will also tell you if it can be repaired (legaly).

There is enough mobile lads like myself out there repairing screen chips between £35 and £45. You need to remove all traces of air and moisture first before injecting the resin and NEVER repair in direct sunlight. The resin will cure before its had a chance to creep into the various cracks. When repaired to a high standard all you should be left with is a small teardrop where the initial impact was. If you're repairing the chip yourself beware of the MOT guidelines. Personally, repairs should be left to the professional. Just my two pence worth.

cheers for the replys lads, i only really want it repaired so that itll look better, they're only small chips so i doubt they'll weaken the screen or anything. ill probs wait a bit then just my insurance a call to see if they can send some1 out. thanks anyway.
