Exclamation Radio not switching off

Hello, i have a 97 barchetta and i have an aftermarket radio in it and has the auto on/off feature but when i switch off the car the radio won't switch off. Both on the red and yellow lines is coming power after i take out the key, is the car this way or is there something wrong with it?

Re: Radio not switching off

No the car is not that way normally.

Your radio will/should have two power supply lines: One permanent and one switched.

It could be that your radio has been wired incorrectly.

Re: Radio not switching off

I'm fairly sure that fiat car radios don't turn off via the ignition.red wire is permanent live, yellow is battery power just to maintain the radio memory.

Re: Radio not switching off

Who jinxed our "B" radio? Nice Kenwood unit with disc and mp3.

Worked yesterday morning when she went out. Stopped for a short while in a car park. Dead as a dodo on leaving.

Re: Radio not switching off

You know, that happened to me last month.
I had been working on the engine compartment, so thought O might have moved caught one of the main fuses, so checked engine fuses, all OK. Checked all the underdash fuses, again all ok. Pulled out the radio, checked for power again ok plugged it back in it worked. Crazy.

Yes just did exactly this and bingo it is back up and running.

Will also take this opportunity to confirm that the "B" does not have an ignition switched +12V. Both are permanent +12V feeds.
