Re: What cars can i get bigger brakes off to fit the B

those brembos must cost a little fortune. will those 305 discs (original is 257 i think...) fit in orignal wheels? to 15'' alloys? because on our country now we now have: "we-are-going-to-EU-so-we-have-to-take-new-rules" and i cannot pass mot with 17'' even if speed difference is 0, because those were not original... only 15'' was fitted to barch.

Re: What cars can i get bigger brakes off to fit the B

Hiya F4ST,

Yes they fit on my B as i,m using 17" rims offset 35, but I did have to also use wheel spacers as they were just slightly fowling the inner rim. With 5mm spacers they clear the wheels fine. No MOT issues here as i first registed the vehicles with all the extra's on. saying that she is due a new MOT and i dont know if the laws have changed. Good to know i know a circle of people in the right places, and a good drink here and there seems to sort out any issues if there is any.

Fancy some new springs and sports suspension..
Tempting, is the Barchetta 'stiff' enough to handle the sports suspension ok?

Must admit it does feel a little soft on mine - ok for chauffeurring the lady around, but lacking ultimat composure in the bends when she ain't there

Id say the Bilstien pro kit is about the best setup you could buy without comprimising the ride quality and the misses shouldnt notice, The bilstien upgraded dampers are a little stiffer and a perfect upgrade for every day driving and then still have the capabilties to run her on the occasional track day. The Eibach springs are progressively wound which allows them to be soft enough when driving smoothly and at low speeds and then stiffen up when cornering at high speeds, the bilstien shocks speak for them selves, dont think there are many other manufacturers that can match their quality and build.

I,d say for those who like to drive the Barchetta more spiritly shal we say this is the perfect setup.
I am very happy with the way my barchetta feels and handles only i,d just like to see her ridding lower, more for looks i guess,

Still contemplating the idea, as coilovers are ideally setup for track racing purpous and will definately comprise the ride quality on poor surface roads.

Re: What cars can i get bigger brakes off to fit the B

Having had the brakes nicely run in now with the rear compensators removed I took it back to the MOT test station. They put it on the brake test rollers for me - my setup is now pushing around 280 Lb on the front brakes and 220 Lb on the rears, which works out as the rears doing 78% as much as the fronts - which is well in for an MOT pass. They feel brilliant.

Handbrake is still borderline for a pass though!

Re: What cars can i get bigger brakes off to fit the B

i'm really not sure why that handbrake is so important... last time i use it was last winter when i got stuck in parking for a week until it defrost. (and few weeks ago when my sister pull that lever to the last teeth, if freeze again)

i'm not sure how other cars have this, like my boss's Renault have automatic handbrake when he stop the car... they probably manufacture barchettas only in summer so this "bug" was not found...

The theory is you can use it to stop if the foot brake fails.

However I would worry if it was the only brakes I had!
