Anyone know of a B expert in East Anglia (preferably in Norfolk, North Suffolk or East Cambridgeshire)? The cambelt needs changing urgently (48k miles on the clock and no record of it ever being changed ).

I'm disinclined to entrust the job to my local dealers (Desiras in Norwich/Diss), and unlike Doc and the other very competent mechanics on this forum :worship: , I'm not confident enough to take the job on myself.

Any suggestions/recommendations would be gratefully received!

Hi - i'm in Ipswich which is not so far down the A12.

Give Avanti Autos a call (Paul or Mario) 01473 211123. Based in Ipswich and are Italian Car Specialists. They used to work at the Fiat main dealers in the town (Alfa and Fiat) so know their stuff.

They have taken care of my B recently - had whole interior out to sort out leak under the mat - put back together again with no issues. I used to take my 03 b to the main dealer here but never again - will go back in for its annual service to Avanti in Sept. Whan mine was in they were looking after another b from Clacton.

Took b for service to DTR last year but will now use Avanti instead. Am also thinking of getting them to fit me a DTR exhaust too!

Desiras in diss are good ask to speak to a tech not girl on desk if you have any trouble

I was put off Desiras in Diss many years ago when they tried to tell me that I needed a new distributor for my wife's Mk 1 Panda (which was just out of warranty at the time) when all it needed was a new set of HT leads. Perhaps I ought to let bygones be bygones and give them a second chance! Many thanks for the suggestions so far.

I know it's not exactly 'local' but the guys in MK who have just done my cam belt did a great job, and not too pricey either. They are actually Audi specialists (and have been doing my Audi for years) but would definitely recommend them
