Panda (Classic) 4x4 anyone

Panda (Classic) 4x4 anyone

option 1 sounds better though :D but personally it looks pretty cool as it is. A bit of a tidy up and it's something to show I think.

It doesn't look bad but I'm six two and have to have the roof open on my Fantasia if I have a rear passenger. ;)

If anyone is bidding please comment on this thread so I don't inadvertently knock the price up.

says the Machinator of Marbella's

Well that's not the same really is it :D; I'm not breaking up a Marbella to put into another car.

Plus so far I've saved 3 mk1's from their death and only broken one up for parts which looked like this (now that's what you call a parts car! ;)):

So there :p

However, I did take the engine from a Y10 turbo  But it was that or the whole car and engine going to the scrap heap which would have been a waste.

Sorry for some reason I got all defensive there  My main point is if you're going to grab 4x4 parts then best to use a total scrapper I think.

I've been thinking about this car all day. One of two options I'd like to run by you...

1/ Make a proper mini-Jeep. Cut across the roof at the windscreen and integrate it with a proper cage; then make a hood so it looks like a series Land Rover.

2/ Use the 4x4 running gear to make my Cinquecento four wheel drive. With the Webasto roof I could paint safari stripes on the body and drive around the Fens upsetting lampers and hare coursers. ;)

What do you think?

I have to agree, no to option 2 I think!
Is it really a Madagascar (a car I've never heard of) If so why not try and restore it? Got to be worth good money one day (y)

That looks better than my MkI 4x4 did when I bought it. ;)

Right I'm lucky bidder 13 so good luck everyone. ;)

I have a mate in Derbyshire who can collect and store the car for me until I convince 'er in panties it's a good idea.

hmm friend of mine (and me too) wants it to keep it as is.

he kinda has money to buy it and i do not.. so the idea is.. he buys it.. i play with it, then when i can afford it.. i buy it off him >_<

wonder how easy it would be to do this to a mk 2 4x4 and keep it road going... i would love to do this >_<

Just had a thought, is it a FIRE engine in the Cinq or a 903? mk1 gearbox won't mate up to a FIRE engine. You would have to use the 965cc 4x4 engine as well and fiddle with the engine mounts for this also (basically the reverse of what Alexcompo's Terra and my Marbella conversion which went from 903 engine to FIRE type interface).

Nice video, that cinq turbo 4x4 goes so well!! Wish we had snow like that here!

I thought the Soleil was 899cc.

I'll stop at £201 so it goes to a better home. Without chopping the back properly I doubt I'll be able to drive the old girl.

not without a steel "flange" between engine and gearbox. With flange it is do-able:)

on the pic 965ccm gearbox and 1242ccm fire engine

Ah interesting. Does this affect the position of the clutch plate to the flywheel at all? Or is this flange simply integrated into the FIRE gearbox and not on the 903/965cc gearbox?

The flange looks to be very thin but still durable, I think with this thickness of the flange no other mods are required, the gearbox clutch shaft is long enough to "compensate" the additional 5 or 7mm of flange, it just goes shallower into the clutch-plate but still functional.

First you bolt a flange to the fire engine with original fire mount-holes, then you bolt the gearbox to the flange{ 903 965 1050 ohv bolt pattern}, ofcourse it may happen that you have to drill or mill a bit the bellhousing to make space for starter or some bolts sticking from the flange, but still with this thickness I think no other mods to the clutch shaft or others are required. With thick flange like 20mm or so other mods must be done. Guys in Poland are swapping many different engines: all fire, 903ccm ohv, and lampredi ohc, also vw golf polo, vw bug engines, alfa boxers, .... and on and on...even diesel :) ....skoda120/130 5gear boxes to the fiat 126p for sport or just for fun of street racing

Type : ..... flansza do malucha ....... into google or other browser if you want to see some flange models for 126p.

Hmm, is it sold or has it just got on the merry go round.

Cynic :p

I suppose if you wanted a MK1 4x4 this is cheap though?

Good luck finding a tailgate :p

I'm going to get to use my Pandabout pic again I suspect!!

Tailgate is easy for a mk1 - hanging it might prove trickier!

I dunno about the price - cheap for a mk1 4x4 yes, but it seems expensive for something hacked too far to restore. If it was tidy and roadworthy that's different - would be interesting to find out what happens next. (y)

I really wish I hadn't sold mine now. I wonder if the mad Belgian still has it.

Paid £25 for it in 1998, spend a year welding it back together and sold it with a cage, metal bumpers and a front mounted winch for £650 in 2003. :(
