This blanking plate is made from 2mm ally and has been rumbled [ big noisy machine full of plastic stones ] to to make it smooth and give it an abraded surface to get a better seal. It fits between the exhaust extension tube and the EGR valve (which is held in place by two bolts-13mm heads-at the top rear right hand of the engine) It gives a cleaner pick up at lower revs because it stops exhaust gas being recycled especially if its dirty or jammed open, which they seem to do as matter of course on these.

Hi, the Item numbers for the blanking plates are now 110902313955 or Item number: 120928729531 on eBay
Many people ask if it will fail the MOT if a blanking plate is fitted. A vary valid question, as it is part of the emission system . It will not fail the MOT with a blanking plate fitted, as the car is only tested for the output of black smoke. As blocking it will lower the output of smoke, it will help it to pass, especially if the car is tuned, as more fuel needs more Oxygen. It is the same for the 8,16 or 20 valve engines. The egr valve was not fitted to make the engine run better, or to burn unburnt fuel, but to lower the spare Oxygen in the combustion chamber. This spare Oxygen combines with Nitrogen at around 2,000c turning into NOx not tested for). A good idea, but crap's the engine oil, inlet manifold, and valves, and as the engine (and egr valve) gets older, thing just get worse. Lowering the Oxygen also causes more particulates, hence the need to fit DPF,and we all know that they are from the devil  and must be dumped at any cost. So having the egr valve blocked will lower the soot particles, lengthening the time between re-generations. I hope this makes sense, and is off a help.

If its on ebay it should be called a "Diesel power plate" and you need to claim it adds 15bhp :D

But seriously
Efficiency
Greatly
Reducing valves are terrible for engines :(

Buy the plate peoples (y)

I didn't want to fully block it off as it would never warm up as fast.

Thats not true. :nono:

By allowing exhaust gases into the combustion chamber the combustion temperature is reduced(this reduces the amount of NOx gases produced, this is why we have EGR's in the first place). It also causes the engine to warm up more slowly due to the drop in combustion temperature ..

Can someone please take a picture of the part that's supposed to be blocked up as there are 2 places for the block to go x is it the top right of the egr with a metal 90 degree ish tube going to it??? And which end? or is it the pipe underneath????
