is this to good to be true?

Have you ever seen one of those new fangled 'LED torches' using the super super bright LEDs'?

They seem to give of the same sort of intensity as the average HID bulb, but on a smaller scale.

Apparnetly LED headlamps will be the next advance in headlamp tech.

LED sidelights won't work in the Grande Punto as a straight swapout. Reason being is that they run on a much lower voltage than normal sidelight bulbs, and the computer system thinks the bulb has blown. The LED's actually flicker and look ****.

This is not a problem in older less computerised cars, e.g Mk1 punto etc.

A general rule of life is if looks too good to be true, it usually is; though ebay can sometimes yield absolute bargains!

2 why exactly would you need HID sidelights? Someone will probably make them but your main beams will over-bear them anyway

thanks.

for the white white instead of with yellow tinge

HID sidelights. You planning on trying to blind people when it's not that dark?

for the white white instead of with yellow tinge

LOL at HID Sidelights.

i take it thats a no then

Perhaps you mean "LED" rather than "HID"?

no i do mean hid as cba with inline resistors even though easy to do

they're BULBS not a full KIT

i dont know much about hids thats why im asking. i presume you mean it doesnt have ballasts?

got 6 my dad is an led freak:eek:

wouldnt know as said know little about hids other than 6000k are bright white which i would perfer to the standard yellow

can you get led head lamps for the gp?

already read about that.

thanks for all the replies though (didnt think id get many tbh)

HID side lights would be utterly pointless.

HID headlamps need 10,000 volt balasts installing to drive both headlamps to produce that intensity of light straight away.

You ever seen a street light switch on? Notice it takes a good 1-2 minutes to go from dim to fully lit. Thats what HID bulbs would do if they werent supplied that amount of voltage in one go, hence balasts are needed.

You should by "xenon" filled sidelights if you want to loose the yellow look. (that said you'll likely have a blue tint with these type)

HID means "High Intensity Discharge". They're able to produce much more power than normal headlights. HID's in sidelights would be illegal as sidelight bulbs are only legal up to a certain wattage/ brightness.

LED sidelights however are legal as long as they are the same level of brightness as standard bulbs.

didnt know that as said i know little about hids. so thankyou for educating me.

once again. didnt know that as said i know little about hids. so once again thankyou for educating me.

will get xenons then.

didnt realise the law was so strict on side lights so thankyou for educating me.

one of me mates has got some bulbs advertised as 'xenon sidelight bulbs' in his sei which i believe are led's... anyhow they give out a pure white light compared to the yellowish standard ones, i think theyre worth £4 really as led's can never blow and they give that more modern look.

im tempted to get some xenon bulbs as theyre supposed to be a white light with improved visibility, shame the turds on ebay advertise them as hid bulbs(n)

Unfortunately this is true my friend. Today i bought 2 white leds to fit as sidelights to my grande but they blink. If you put just the one and leave the other with the standard bulb it wont blink, but when you put both of them they start blinking...

thats because you need to fit inline resistors to bring the current down,

i have LED sidelights fitted
