Abarth Punto Exhaust Header or Extractor Design


I did few random comparison of other cars with respect to Exhaust headers / Extractors design. In general, collectors of the exhaust headers face downward in order to aid the velocity of exiting exhaust pulse gas and then followed by turbine shaft of turbo charger comes into play.

Why is that t-jet and multi air powered ABARTH and FIAT cars have collectors face upwards and then the turbo mounted on top it. Will it lot create substantial back pressure and weak spooling at low RPMS.

Likewise, I look at some of the MJD exhaust headers design and they all follow conventional design of collector facing downward.

Has anyone tried to change the exhaust headers and collector in ABARTH punto or similar cars.
