Car developed the known outside temperature reading error a couple of weeks ago, car booked in to dealership pending arrival of back order part.

Today car has -stop start unavailable, engine fault and drive mode unavailable error messages... anyone seen related issues. Restated a good few times, battery level good, tried to select sport or all weather drive mode with the dial not possible. Car still just within warranty....

I haven't experienced the outside temp issue but I have had the Blackpool Illuminations dashboard when just about every conceivable warning light lit up. This occurred when I stopped for fuel after a very long, hot and fast motorway run through France. Slowly the warning lights went out leaving just Drive Mode, Stop/Start and Engine Fault left. Once the car finally restarted and showed no signs of genuine faults I continued my journey, about another 100 miles. The next morning I started the car, no warning lights at all. Took it to the dealer for a checkup and no faults had been stored. Seems like a glitch but get the dealer to reset the faults, if they don't come back you should be fine, but get it checked before the warranty expires.

I had the same.... sensor replaced requiring complete mirror unit. Lights were the sign that battery had developed a dead cell and carried on till eventually refused to start. Battery then replaced under warranty. First sign was auto brake warning followed by various warning lights. Random warnings at different times. Have also seen same warnings when the + battery cable worked loose.

Good luck with the temperature sensor. I've been arguing with FIAT for ages. The other day I had 33c at 7.30pm with the actual outside temperature being 24c.

Starting to realise why FIAT, as a company, is usually panned in owner satisfaction surveys!

I didn’t have a problem...told them it was showing 30deg and the weather was about 8deg. They said they had a few come in with same problem. Mirror unit replaced under warranty.

Mine is reading 59 degrees, it started going up by 10 degrees a day and now seems to have maxed out! I hope and presume this issue is what’s causing my climate control when the ac is on to blow out artic blasts..... if not then that’s another issue.

Also my understanding is that stop start activation is affected by outside temperature so that may be causing one of the unavailable errors - there again may be something linked to the battery. Car has just done 40k in just 1 month short of 3 years.

I was told that it would just be the sensor on the wing mirror housing that would be replaced, the dealership (well the service rep)said that they had not seen this before on a 500x -I stressed that it was a known issue -and asked them to check service notifications - not sure if they did, any way will ring in the morning to chase a date for fitting and looking at the error codes......:bang:

Having a forum like this really makes you appreciate the views and experiences of other owners. Thanks all:)

The sensor is part of the complete mirror unit. The whole thing is replaced but they reuse the painted mirror cap/cover. My ac was also affected by the sensor which giving a high reading made my ac on auto struggle to get cold on certain settings. It all went back to normal once it was changed.

Car collected today all good, the warning lights and issues with ss and drive mode fixed by 5 software updates - strange but that’s what I was told. Temp issue fixed by replacement part - happy as car still just within third year warranty.

Also first mot passed with no issues - 40k
