500l 2013,at random times warning of right hand door open, interior light comes on. this only happens when max de-fog is on or front or rear screen heaters are pressed, any ideas? this happened shortly before the heater re-call. I stupidly asked Stoneacre to do a fault diagnosis, £89 lighter I was informed there are over 50 electrical faults and for a mere £570 they would fix them. Any comments on cause of indications and cheaper alternative fault clearing would be appreciated, Cheers.

I think it is very hard to comment on unknown faults. You can read the fault codes from the car using a 20 Euro bluetooth adapter and a free Android app ('Torque').

Btw, did you have your battery checked ? Various 'independent' electrical issues could point to a problem with system voltage being too low - the de-fog / heater comment would also point in that direction. Maybe simply replacing the battery would solve the issue.

thanks for your reply,I will try the OBD, as an extra yesterday the outside air temp said 2 deg and ice warning when in fact it was 8 deg, after a few minutes the correct temp was shown. Bring back steam engines!!!
