Does anyone know if I can change the heater fan controls.
I've had a 500s before with both climate control and standard manual heater controls, but this 500s with climate every time I start the car the heater fan turns off totally. So say the weather is damp and you set off and put your heater on and every time you turn the car off say to get petrol or do a errand the heater fan turns totally off and you realise when you're either getting cold or the Windows start to mist up. It's flaming annoying to keep putting it up the fan. I'll be honest I've had 4 fiat 500s and think this will be the last. On this 500s 65 plate compare to my 13 plate 500s the have removed the under seat storage, the little card holder under the gear stick. The seat finish seems cheaper quality. I spoken with the dealership and they think without seeing the car that this must be a fault that it turns the fan off when the car is restarted.

It is a fault and mine's also got it, my dealer has been too slack to fix it... let me know how you get on.

Sure this isn't the deliberate behaviour?

Outdoor air contains water vapour. The evaporator matrix within the AC system in the dashboard cools the ventilation air to about 5 degsC and the moisture in the air condenses on the matrix (which is why the car drips), drying the air as well as cooling it.

When you switch off the engine the evaporator starts to warm up again to ambient temperature, and the water that had condensed onto it evaporates into the (now stationary) air contained in the AC system's ducts behind the dashboard. If the fan started up when you first started your car from cold, it would blow all that cold, damp air onto your cold windows and mist them up immediately.

So instead, many manufacturers put a delay into the system so that the fan doesn't run immediately when you start the engine. There's a short delay so the AC evaporator can cool down again and suck as much of that water vapour out of the ventilation air before it gets blown onto your windows.

I haven't noticed my wife's 500c doing this but the climate control in my Jaguar does it and so does my Saab and so did my Audi before it. When I first start my Jaaag the fan runs but no air comes out of any vents. After about half a mile the sound of the system changes and air starts coming out of the screen vents.

Out of interest, do you use yours always with the 'Auto' mode engaged? It looks from your picture as though you've set the options manually yourself to direct the air and you're not using the AC. Perhaps try it in 'Auto' mode and see whether it's improved. I never touch our 500's climate controls. It just works. If you override the automatic direction of air by forcing air up to the screen then your system is perhaps switching off the fan momentarily because it thinks you're sending damp air to the screen.

Mine dispays similar behaviour. I like to drive with a flow of fresh air to the face which you can't do in Auto so I press the AC switch, select the centre manual button on the right and set the fan speed, then switch off the AC. This works fine but after stopping the car the fan needs to be reset - though not every time. I sort of got used to it but if it's definitely a fault then I reckon I'll go back to the dealer while it's still under warranty.

When my car looses it's fan speed, it also resets the MFD to 'date' making me suspect the BCM as the culprit.

I will be taking mine in next Wednesday 7th to get them to have a look. It hasn't really bothered me over summer as it's been quite mild weather and I've just cracked open the window a little and not been used as much. But as the evening/nights have been cooler I've noticed how annoying this is every time you stop the engine. You notice after a few minutes your either feeling chilly or misting. Fingers crossed they haven't designed it like this as it's very annoying to have to live with daily. I drive my car at least 4 times min daily and more so it is very annoying, you generally set a speed and increase decrease but very rarely ever turn it fully off.
