Hi all,

The lack of glovebox on the 500 is really bugging me. The underseat storage isn't as big as it looks and the secret compartment isn't that strong.

Salmon's did hint that there is a glovebox with door as standard on newer 500s and there are glove boxes on American models.

I'm guessing its going to be an easy swap of plastic panels and Fiat won't have changed the whole dash for it.

Anyone got any part numbers for it? I'm searching Fiat ePer sites but not having much luck... :shakehead:

An arm rest gives more storage.

I think it is a bigger adaption ( the American glovebox) than it looks.

I've heard a rumour that the American glove box will arrive here with the other updates, probably next year.

Just how big are your gloves?

As Rui says, fitting a centre armrest will be a useful addition to storage capability. If you ask him he will be able to email/post a picture for you.

Its just to stash a couple of items out of site from prying eyes. I can get my 500 documents file in the passenger seat and thats it.

Maybe I should look at the armrest. Rui have you got the amrster one by any chance?

OTOH, my Panda has a great glovebox. Function over form .

In comparison to what my lupo had the glove 'box' area is massive! If I need to leave something in the car, I put it in the boot

Glove boxes can rattle.
I've had 2 cars which did this.
With some gloveboxs it's easy to overload them & when a rattle develops it can be quite annoying.
Also if one plans to 'house' car documentation it would be preferable not to have details of the key code, chassis number, etc.

I notice that 2016 models now come with the glovebox with a door, which looks better than a stupid shelf. Does any know if these can be retrofitted? As the are quite readily available on fleabay quite cheaply. I have already added a aftermarket armrest. I just think the one with the door looks classier. Anyone done this?

It’s not compatible and won’t fit unfortunately… the facelift 500s have a somewhat tweaked dash so it’s a no go! Or I would have already done it

YEP only fits 2015 or later!
