Hi guys wonder if anyone can help I bought The sat nav port for my fiat 500 with suggestions on here that you can buy the tom-tom go live 1000 and it will fit and charge in the dock and sound through the speakers.

However when I was at the parts dept at the local dealer he told me there were two different sat nav the first generation and then the better second one, he tried to sell me the old one at a reduced rice but it still wasnt so cheap so I asked to just buy the doc with the though of buying my own sat nav off eBay. They didn't have the part in stock so he took the port out of the old one he had on the shelf to save me coming back.

I have just bought the Tom Tom go live 1000 and it doesn't fit the port the little teeth that stick up on the bottom of the port are too close together compared with the holes on the bottom of the sat nav and it has now broken one of these teeth that hold the sat nav in place is it I have purchased e wrong model or are there two connector types on the port for the first and second gen system totally confused and gutted if anyone can help that would be great.

I remember you posted before on another thread and I did look at the GO LIVE model that you bought. When I added up the cost of buying the cradle along with the GO LIVE model I wasn't going to save much. The GO LIVE appears to be the same as the B&Me Tom Tom Live 2 but from what you are saying it sounds like it is a little different.

If it is only the teeth that are broken on the bottom of the cradle then the situation should be salvageable.

I hope you don't mind if I make a suggestion...

Would you consider returning the GO LIVE Sat Nav that you have bought and getting the B&Me Live 2 model. It can be bought less than list if you negotiate with the dealer. The feature set on the Blue&Me Live 2 when it integrates with the car is supposedly worth having.

Remember Fiat did not charge for the 68R option port (unlike Alfa Romeo) so if you are paying an extra £120 than the 'cheaper' setup you could justify the extra expense because of the Fiat 'freebie'.

Other than that you have the 'fall back' of using the charge wire & the dash holder that comes standard with the GO LIVE model.

Michael have you seen an iPhone holder to fit into the sat nav port ? power not required. thx.

I wouldn't ordinarily say this but I would say just go and buy it. Mine doesn't work 'with the car' because Alfa didn't have the right B&Me module in the early edition MiTos and I'm still banging on the door to get them to replace the module. At least yours will work straight from the box.

The iphone can be made to fit landscape in the tom tom sat nav cradle (you could use a sticky magnet with a backing case) but it's £79 but you would need portrait mode since some of the apps don't do landscape.

Suggest spending the £300 and worry about the cost of the upgrades later. You will need your iphone or a mobile in the car for the 'LIVE' features to work. I don't need a sat nav for knowing my way across the city but the near instant LIVE traffic updates are good to brilliant. To save money you can delay registering working off slightly older maps but then you would have to 'bite the bullet'.

Your 'installation' will have the MEDIA stuff, ECO drive, etc. etc.

It's not perfect. It has send me down a 2 way road that turns into one that only allows traffic in the opposite direction. Sometimes it will indicate to take a right where you're not allowed to take one. But that might be because I haven't registered it. It's all part of the fun of having one.:)
