General Twinair Lounge - auto climate control?

I considered xenons but as I hate being blinded by other cars with this type of lights I actively decided not to get them. They might be nice for the driver but not for everyone else using the road :D

Fair enough but more and more cars are having it and pretty much all luxury cars have it standard. So i guess we will be all blinded in the coming time!

I must have better eyesight or something, but I just don't get this sentiment that Xenons are blinding. Fair enough, aftermarket ones put in reflector headlights with no thought to eliminating glare, but no proper OEM ones.

Well I've just been to look at the Twinair Lounge that was to be mine and no ACC. It was ordered on 30th Dec (ready built obviously) and I think it was already in the docks then. So now I have the choice of accepting the car with horrible cheap looking knobs instead of the ACC controls, accepting another standard Twinair Lounge in a different colour and getting it fairly quickly (probably white I guess instead of the volare blue I want) or ordering a volare blue one and waiting 3 months. Not the end of the world, but I was expecting to be picking up my new car on Saturday so feeling a bit deflated now :(

I guess anyone ordering a Twinair Lounge now should just be aware that they are still being shipped without ACC (though the price for the last of the non-ACC Twinair Lounges is apparently £200 cheaper now).

If you're buying new, I guess you want the car to your spec, not someone elses.

Otherwise you could buy an ex demo, or used model.

Just think, if you order the car you really want now, then not only will it be the start of Spring for you in 3months, but also new car time.

Sometimes, in these dark winter months, it's good to have something to look forward to!

The knobs are no cheaper looking than the CC dials. The plastic is exactly the same plastic. I ditched ACC for leather and I've never regretted it.

Are you serious? ACC?

If anything i think the knobs are better. With acc when you turn it on and its like at 18c and its 30c outside it explodes with power!!! Even when i had ACC on another car i just did it manual. Acc has 2 settings. Freeze or burn. The knobs are old school, and that suits me just fine.

I would say that it would be a very very big mistake if you did not accept a car ONLY because it doesnt have ACC.

Well to me the knobs look tacky so I want ACC. I can't see why it'd be a big mistake at all - the difference between getting the car I (that's me, not you) want and getting the one that you (that's you, not me) think is best.

You are right, but waiting another three months for a car that has just the ACC difference i cannot logically comprehend. Did the dealer tell you about this when he ordered? If they made a mistake, perhaps some free servicing would be a good ice breaker. But acc and no acc, this has nothing to do with the essence of the Fiat 500 and has nothing to do with enjoying the experience of the car.

Weird - ACC has been standard on the twinair lounge on all new builds since July 1st. I remember it being July 1st as it caused a big hoohaa with my dealer who was slow at placing my order for me. Are you totally sure the one you've seen is definately a twinair and not a 1.2 lounge? What is the date of manufacture?
As a proud owner of a volare blue twinair lounge I would recommend either doing some phoning around to locate a car from another dealer / area of the country or wait it out for a new order. I went for a new order because as well as the ACC (I wanted it before it became standard) I specifically wanted leather seats and ESP.
My car turned up after 8 weeks, I'm not sure how quickly cars are being build at the mo, but I would hazard a guess that it would be likely to turn up closer to 2 months than 3........

I just want to also point out that you are spending alot on a brand new car - you want it to be perfect (to you) - in which case the 2/3 month wait will be worth it!
(Stoneacre had a 1.2 in volare blue available *now* that I almost bought until I decided to wait a while for my perfect car :))

Well I hope it's a Twinair Lounge cos that's what I ordered, it was priced as a Twinair and that's what Stoneacre were about to sell me! I think I'll just wait for a build especially if it might be less than 3 months (or might accept a BNW if that's available straight away). Stoneacre did have a brochure that showed the Twinair Lounge at £12760 and a Twinair Lounge with no ACC for £12560 so I guess there must still be Twinair Lounges around that don't have ACC.

Probably a silly question (most of mine are) but assuming your car is otherwise correct, can't they just change the air con bits for ACC bits? In the words of Jeremy Clarkson, how hard can it be?
