I am reminded by this (and increasingly, other threads on the 500 forum) of the episode of the Simpsons where homer's long lost brother owns a car manufacturing firm, and builds an "everyman" car with everything Homer wants in a car... which is then a complete dogs breakfast.
Let's write emails to Fiat on how they could improve the 500 for the next facelift, including how long we would like between activating the windscreen washer and the wipers coming on, whether they should do this or do it at the same time, whether it should be a two phase system just in case someone wants the screen wet without being wiped, oh and can the left and right stalks be interchangeable as I'm left handed and I find it inconvenient that the washer is on the right hand side, and we would like a fan shaped spray on the screen as the three jets per side are rubbish, can believe they did that, Fiat must be utter idiots to make it jets rather than fans...

The thing is I provided you with a perfectly reasonable explanation and still you weren't happy! All design decisions have positives and negatives and whilst the decision Fiat have made means that there is a short period where visibility is compromised, it does mean that you get less streaks and scratches which means that overall visibility is better.

Good episode .. and beautiful "everyman" car ... cant see any wipers on it though

if you think you can do a better job at car design you should apply to Fiat for a position there

Yep once that's popped out there's no windscreen washing!! Can't remember when I last washed the screen!! As people like to repeat themselves, I can fix the washer myself can't I... Just wedge it in...
My wipers activate almost instantly after pulling the stalk, just in time to wipe the windows but not wipe when bone dry.
Perhaps we should swap cars?
