I've not been able to find any reference to this, but I have been struggling (along with the dealer) to get an annoying fizzing noise out of the stereo system.

I have a 1.2 Lounge with the Dualogic gearbox and also Interscope hifi. When sat at rest with the engine running, there is a slight fizzing/hissing sound coming over the speakers. When moving off, the tone disappears-ish when gear is engaged, but then returns when changing gear.

So far a tweeter has been replaced, the amplifier has now been replaced, and they also swapped out the gearbox ecu too. They now have a 500 Dualogic in the showroom without Interscope, tested it and found the same problem on that one.

Looks like it could be an endemic problem on Dualogics? Anyone else had experience of this?

I picked up a 1.4 duologic yesterday with inerscope. No problems thus far and I am loving the gearbox

Mine's an August 08 car so maybe they've found the cause and fixed it by now? *crosses fingers*

calling all dualogic gearbox users - we have a lovely 1.2 lounge with dualogic - but the gear changes at low road speeds are not good!

- in fact the car nearly comes to a standstill
- anyone else have this experience?

hi i've got a 1.2 duallogic, no problems at all with sound etc.

As for the slow speeds at low gears, sometimes the fully auto mode doesnt shift down as much as you want it to.

I had the same problem with a VW Polo auto and bmw 3 series and from what i've seen its a normal thing in full auto cars.

I use mine in the full manual mode all the time and basically just drop the gears myself if required.

Much more fun to drive in full manual shift mode, and great for picking up speed when dropping the gears down.

Sounds like a static problem from all the spinning things in the gear box- ask the dealer to check all the earth points under the bonnet, My dealer told me they dont clean the paint off them before attaching the leads, Its one of the things they have to do if you complain about the flashing mileage- aparently this has been found to be one of the causes. Also Unscrew the ariel form its mount give it a clean an screw it back in - sometimes a problem with these little ones if you dont have a good connection they can pick up all types of interference.

Obvioingously I can't say anything about the 1.2 but the 1.4 is fantastic. It does do some odd things going up hills but the rest of the time it is great and very smooth. On the twisty bits press sport and use the manual change. I felt like Colin McRae!

we have a 1.2 dualogic :) no problems so far. Gearbox is exellent, better than my previous cars (Toyota). Husband uses it in manual....
Only 700 miles covered but all is good (y)

I've got this coming from a 2010 500C 1.4 Dualogic. It's the only issue on an otherwise great car. After a day back in the Fiat dealership, they said there wasn't anything they could do about it - and that other 500Cs seemed to be having the same problem. Any resolution of your problem or any updates?

Or could it be the ignition electrics needing suppression? Something similar happened to a car of mine back in the 70s/80s, I forget exactly. The radio would amplify the rise and fall of the revs with an annoying "FZZZZ": it was a simple fix back then.

Can be gearbox too. When using the cassette player in the Subaru the 4wd transmission creates a nice whine over the cassette if you've got no sound going through it :)

I've got a 1.2c dualogic and I haven't got any fizzing on my radio, or not that I've noticed anyway.

It could be that your dealer can't be bothered to look for the problem.
