Has anyone managed to get a discount on the new car? I'm guessing that with the good reviews and limited numbers the answer is probably 'no', but you never know.

Venters is right on the likely hood level, I did manage to wangle a full tank of fuel though.

If Fiat stick to the numbers released in their recent press statement (April 09) there will only be 700 UK bound in 2009, good luck with trying to get one if that's the case. I'm hoping that was just to get people ordering up quickly and more owners will get the chance to grin like the Joker on laughing gas.

The problem at the moment is the weakness of the pound against the Euro, it means cars made in Europe are getting sold here for pretty much as low as they can go, in fact if it keeps up prices will go up, most other manufacturers have announced roughly 5% increases and Renault have said they are considering 10% as they can't continue selling cars at current prices.

When I was in Post Office the other day it cost £503 to buy 520Euro's its almost 1to1.

I don't think it will be long before Fiat follow suit, especially considering at current exchange rates UK is pretty much the cheapest place to buy cars at moment, never thought I'd hear that as we are normally more expensive

In fact its so cheap to buy cars at moment Lancia integrales are being snapped up by Continental buyers who look at our prices as a bargain, EVO 1 Europe easy 20K to 35K Euros, UK 9-20K, EVO 2 Europe 30K to 50K Euro's, UK £15 to 30K and rising. The last 4 or 5 integrale's I've seen sold have all gone pretty much as soon as they are listed to Euro buyers paying full asking price. BMW M3 E30's are the same, although these two cars are unique in that they were only ever made LHD and as such easy for Europeans to buy them and drive them home.

Ive heard of a couple of orders being sold on so discount is unlikely unless a dealer is stuck with a poorly speceed one as a stock order.
There should be a few ex demo ones coming up at some point which should offer a saving but they will have been thrashed within an inch of their life by numerous "test drivers" Some would say thats how theuy should be driven :D

yea i paid full price for a launch edition, which is fair enough.

but come on, we should all realise that there WILL be discount sooner or later even on the abarth.

everyone was saying the regular 500 would never have discounts, now its easy to get £750-£1000 off some of the variants.

give it 6-9 months im certain there'll be discounts on the abarth, no question about it. it is fiat, after all. doesnt matter about the limited numbers or whatever else - it'll be discounted alright, for those that are prepared to wait a little...dont kid yourself otherwise.

Unless you've got a fairly new car to part ex, like i did, then discounts won't happen for a while. I was offered £4200 for my 57 plate Panda MJ, asked another dealer and they offered me £5100, £600 more than the book price, so that's their way of "discounting" by offering you more on your car. Also got free delivery (half a tank of fuel left after delivery) free mats and 12 months tax.

Dont be so sure. They have been on sale here in Holland for almost 7 months now and its still impossible to get a discount.

Why would there be any discount - all cars destined for the UK for the foreseeable future are sold anyway as I understand it.

Look at the mini, discounts weren't available this time last year because there was no problem shifting them at list, different storey now though, it's taken a beating from the 500 I reckon! I know of once instance where someone was offered a new convertable (list £20k) for £11k by a dealer....
