Just a little.Hold on a min, Has my thread been hijacked ??
As it's still on topic because if you get a good enough finance deal you can leave your savings in the bank for when the services come around. lol

Im seriously looking to opt out of my company car, wait for it, I sell Lexus and really fancy the little 500 Am looking at the 1.2 Lounge!
The real shock for me was the saleaman telling me the first 10k service would set me back £279 and the 20k a whopping £479 !! Is this correct ??
Steve
WTF? I've got a 1.4. It gets serviced first time at 18k miles and that was £250 and the dealer knocked a bit off that. What's this 10k and 20k stuff? Is the service interval different for the 1.2?
Not everyone has 10 grand sitting doing nothing in their bank accounts though. Even those who do sometimes prefer to keep the money there and still finance a car, either through normal finance or bank loan. In case something comes up they need the money for where credit is not an option.
It's estimated that 95% of all new cars are bought with credit.
Although you are obviously correct with regards the extra accumulated with interest. The Marea was bought with finance. Which added an extra £16 a month onto the amount I would have had to put into a savings account to fully rebuild my savings had I had enough savings to pay for the car outright.
The 126 was bought cash, and will cost nothing extra a month.
Isnt it 18,000 miles or 12 months as usual... whichever comes first?
that is exactly why the economy is the way it is the way, i see it if ya cant afford it save, if you still cant dont, i dont believe in finance for anything, but thats just me, im not saying people who have finance cant afford it (obv they can make payments ) i just prefer to pay for things and get it out the way,

Our 1.4 sport just had its 12 mth service, low mileage at an all in cost of £150...only diff in low mileage vs. full is spark plug change which is Not needed after the car doing only 5,500 miles in it's 1st year...
Did you pay cash for your house?
ah ha see were your coming from put as much down as i could! but tbh its a sound investment in a house!
true kinda wish id not gone fixed rate with all the saveings friends are makeing, we only bought last year knocked 12k off the asking and gutted it, thing is this happened begging of the 80's i think my dad said could be the 90's and it picked up so hopefully it will pick up again, its a perfect time to buy and rent out if youve got the cash ...as for the rest of us we'll struggle through it
I bought a 3 year sevice plan for £399 for my new 500 1.4 by Diesel at my local dealers Rayrigg Motors in Lancaster/Morecambe. The also offered a 2 year for £299 both with 0% finance on DD.
