Hi Have a deposit on one of the first ones arriving but wife wants to keep her diesel lounge anyone want to take our place ?

Test drove a grey one today - very impressive with the tuning and its certainly fast. The ride was much better than expected, much better damped than the 500 1.4, and although the steering is numb its very precise with loads of grip on the 17" tyres. Great engine note as well. Only a few weeks to wait although I've asked to have the 5-hole wheels as the multispoke ones on the opening edition look like a nightmare to clean. Turning circle is as bad as ever ...

I should just say not looking for any sort of premium on this.

the abarth website says:
If you decide not to place an order with a dealer, we will refund your deposit directly to you. You may request a refund of your deposit from Fiat Group Automobiles UK at any time before placing a binding order with your chosen dealer. To obtain a return of your deposit, simply send an e-mail to [email protected] indicating your reservation reference number.

Once your 500 Abarth is ready, you will be contacted by your dealer to arrange a date to visit them, in order to pay the outstanding amount of your car and then collect it.

Your deposit will not be refundable once an order is placed with an Abarth dealer. Your order with the dealer can, of course, be cancelled, but we will not return the £500 reservation fee.

Visit www.abarthcars.co.uk or call 00800 22278400 to find your nearest Abarth dealer.
so unless you have fully commited with a dealer then you can get you'r cash back

Be aware then that the dealership your order is being handled by is under no obligation to supply the car ordered by you to anybody else, so you could end up looking foolish if you 'sell' your deposit to somebody only for them to be told by the dealership that there is no car for them.

I'm really looking after my 500, if I end up changing my car it will be for the Abarth version :slayer:

If you read though my posts you will see i am not trying to "sell" my deposit i have spoken with the dealer they are happy for someone to take my place.

Come on give the guy a break. Hes just trying to offer someone on the forum his place. Thinks its good of him to be honest.

Right, that's all your posts from this thread, and not one of them mentions your dealer

...i am not trying to "sell" my deposit...
So you don't expect anyone that takes over your order to give you your deposit back then? That's incredibly generous of you :D

Had he mentioned from the start that his dealership are selling so few Abarth 500 that they need him to try and find a replacement buyer I wouldn't have advised him the way I did.

I (granted, wrongly) assumed that his dealership, like the rest of us, would have enough orders in the system to take up the next 3 months production, and didn't want him to be in the embarrassing situation of finding somebody to take on his order only to then have to tell that person that his dealership had already sold 'his' car to somebody else.

I've been selling cars, and posting on car-related forums, for a long time now, and every time something a bit special like the Abarth 500 comes along you always get people saying they have one on order but their wife has told them they can't have it/they've lost their job/they're now getting a company car/something similar so does somebody want to take on their order, so yes, maybe I am a bit cynical, although in this instance I was actually, I thought, just trying to offer a bit of genuine advice. Sorry!

Scrogg you have edited the first quote you have posted it actually said

"If you read though my posts you will see i am not trying to "sell" my deposit i have spoken with the dealer they are happy for someone to take my place."

Very unfair editing on your behalf to miss half the text out and turn the quote into something it wasn't!!

I am not going to waste time answering anymore of your points this was a genuine offer and i am sorry for some unknown reason it seems to have upset you.

Yes I have, as that way I could answer each, separate, point individually.

You haven't upset me at all. I offered advice based on my experience and was told to "give you a break".

Clearly my questioning you saying that if I read through your posts I will see that you have spoken to your dealership and they are happy for someone to take your place when at no point in this thread had you actually said that has upset you though?
