Hi all,

Has anyone had a problem with the graphite finish on the centre caps of the 15" Alloys flaking off?

Both my missus and I have 500's which are nearly 3 months old, the centre cap on her nearside front alloy has started to flake off quite badly, I'm taking it back to the dealer tomorrow for them to have a look, but it didn't sound too promising that they'd fit a new one under warranty which I think is a bit rubbish on a 3 month old car. I guess I'll have to see what they say!

Any feedback or similar experiences would be most welcome.

This has been mentioned before and apparently Fiat have started making them a bit better now. Have to say mine are still perfect.
BTW, if you look at similar items on some Golfs, badges included... they do the same.

I can't imagine how they could refuse to change them on a car(s) so new. Moan until they do

My drivers side one has some of the black missing when I wen't over it with a pressure washer. I wasn't too close but now I don't put the washer on the middle of the wheels just the alloy parts themselves.

Thames Fiat changed them under warranty - no hassle apart from having to wait for them to be ordered in.

Known issue.

I seem to remember a note from 'littlepip' saying there was a faulty batch or something similar and they are classed as warranty.....

Update:

Called into the dealer, they were fine about replacing it, they just need to take a pic for the warranty and it should be sorted.

Well done

not officially i wouldn't say faulty batch

but initially they were very brital and snapped easily when fitted on pdi

fiat seem to have changed the materiel they are made from as they have been good so far also to add one of our demos suffers the same fate flaking paint but they do get presure washed on high power regular as clockwork

but not the newer ones so it seems what fiat have done has fixed the problem

we have fitted some under warranty so it should be no problem atall just some dealers don't like the paperwork it seems very lazy attitude towards customer service

I've seen one or two with flaking hub-cap paint.. around the "500".

I know, and that was on a main Fiat dealers forecourt
Talk about put you off due to poor quality

I have had two fiited now under warranty. No problems with replacing them at my dealer.
