Perfect fit under the driver seat.

Remove left hand sill panel. There is a screw back and front. Pull it hard upwards. On the front door jam there is an earthing point. Use this for your earth. You can also run the positive to here and to the battery.

The blaupunkt is great as you only need to connect +ve and -ve power supply and ONE speaker wire as the bass is picked up from one channel. In the wiring loom locate the orange and orange and black wire. The latter is the speaker negative. The orange is the speaker positive.

Remove the handbrake cover. There is a 10mm bolt beneath the rear cupholder and feed the wires under the carpet to the sill. Use an old wire coathanger to help you.

Make the four connections and your done. Lovely bass. And dead simple. And only £99 delivered!

An Interscope system equivalent for peanuts.

Anybody that needs help can PM me!

I guess fitting this means you can no longer for the rear carpet mat in place?

Actually you can. But not under the passenger seat as there isn't quite enough clearance. You're more likely to have someone behind the driver I think. The speakrer can either sit on the mat or have the mat velcro-ed up the side of the speaker to prevent it getting scuffed.

I was wondering about some velcro stuck to the underside of the sub to stop it sliding around, I don't really want to drill the car if I can avoid it.

Vecro is what I have. It sticks well to the carpet but not the mat. The friction of the velcro on the mat however is enough to keep it in place! The speaker is heavy and won't move much anyway.

You can always use the adhesive velcro and the backing of that adheres well enough to the mats.... stick the soft line of velcro to the mat. You can't see it as it is the same colour!

Ah, I was going to sew a strip to the mat.....

So how much of an improvement is the sub over standard then?

Amazing. I had it under the back seats in my last car and it was great. Haven't fiddled with the settings yet to optimise it for the fiat stereo. It is better as close to the driver as possible and it works better IMHO connected to a speaker high level connection, as the sub is controlled by the car's volume control. Low and mid range frequencies from the standard set up aren't too bad, but I will probably put some coaxials in the front doors at some stage and leave the standard tweeters.

PS I will post some pictures later!

I'm popping some components in, hopefully next week.

Don't know what to go for though.

Just so you know I actually used the cigarette lighter positive feed for the speaker (grey and red) as it is rated for 180w. The Blaupunkt is rated at approx 10 amps and the lighter socket can supply approx 13 amps (Watts= Volts x Amps 180=13.5 x 13.3 approx)

I know! The standard stereo falls down on bass response. This makes the whole thing sound better.

Yes. But you don't have to connect both and the instructions mention this.

but the interscope is more than just a sub and the head unit has some different sound settings, it was specifically designed for the acoustics of the 500 by blaupunkt. and at £250 its hardly worth risking the loss of warranty because you have cut into wires to retrofit a sub

Yes £250 as a factory fitted option. You can't have it fitted after build. A lot of people couldn't have this when you ordered your 5OO in Jan/early feb. It wasn't available.

Thanks dougl65 for all the information.

i ordered mine in feb with interscope, but yes i see you'r point (y) the fact it can't be fitted afterwards tells me there is more than just a sub though. has anyone took delivery of a interscope fitted car yet ?? could mine be the first :slayer:
