Hello!

I have run into an electrical problem with my 2013 Fiat 500 Pop. Originally, the socket for my right passenger side daytime running light was not securely holding the bulb. I had my local mechanic replace the socket. Now, that light is far dimmer than the other driver's side running light, and I get the "Check Daytime Running Lights" message. So even though one side is fine and one side is dim, the car thinks something is wrong.

Additionally, when the headlights are turned on, I get the "Check Running Lights" message. The passenger side running light doesn't come on at all, and the passenger side tail light does not come on, but still works fine when hitting the brake.

I'm going to Pep Boys for an electrical diagnosis, but any advice or similar situation advice would be appreciated!

Sounds like the guy has messed up the 3 wires on the drl lamp holder, the dim light is most likely the "side" light on with the head lights(not the bright day running one) and or the earth is faulty .
The rear lights the tail light(at least here in uk/Europe is seperate to the brake check the bulb and fuses ?

Thanks for replying. I had the tail light bulbs replaced, and the same problem remains. I had him check the wires, and he said they were all fine. He did not check the ground/earth wires.

The drl bulb has two filaments one dim(when headlights are on) and one bright for daytime use, has two live feeds and 1 single earth some careful investigation is required to see what's been done and correct it, the bulb holder itself has 4 contacts one each for the live feeds and two common earth contacts .
Did the rear go off just after the fix?
It's possible that the side light feed is shorted at the socket thus the rear is off, and the fuse maybe blown(often split feeds left and right, not sure) but that the bulb is wired such the side light filament is connected to the daytime feed hence the dim out put and warning?

It is dim during the day, off completely when the headlights are on. My thought is that my mechanic screwed something up, even though he re-checked and said he didn't.

I'm assuming there must be some connection between this and the tail light? Because the tail light only stopped coming on after the socket for the driving light was changed.
