I have a hobby and that is designing and building sports exhausts. I was going to buy a FIAT 500 and so I designed and had made 10 stainless steel rear boxes of the best quality. Made of 304 stainless steel, mandrill bent and filled with the best muffling material.

I ended up buying an Alfa MITO so these are pirced to sell. I need the space in my garage now and I will ship across the world.

PM me if you are interested. Seriously I built these to be the best quality boxes for the FIAT available.

I must admit that those do look nice :)

have you had many takers Neil? As always it would be nice to hear one a car :)

I've fitted mine now and it sounds pretty good IMHO. Not over the top, just a bit throatier .

Am getting around to a YouTube clip, but have been out of town all week for work and again this weekend so haven't had time yet :bang:.

I can say the back box is really nicely made and fitted straight on with no dramas (y).

Clip coming - promise...

Julian that's really good to hear. pls send me the link to the youtube when it's all done. (y)

There is just about nothing on the market like this exhaust. That's why I had a few made.
I completely overengineered it too the pipe is made of 304 stainless steel and mandril bent ( important as "crush" or force bends reduce the cross sectional area on the bends). :) The internal deadening material is the best you can get and costs 5 times the usual cost so the exhaust will last as long as the car.

You might find that if you drive the car with the windows down and put your foot on it that you get a much better impression of the sound coming out the back !!

Neil, is there any chance of a picture looking at the same level as the pipe? Just to get a true picture of what shape the finisher is?

I presume that one would have to inform the insurance company of this "modification" as it would be classified as non-standard.

Any change to the standard 500 backbox particularly to a stainless steel one in theory is a good thing. If other backbox suppliers can give a letter stating that there's no bhp improvement (it might give a more torquey feel) then that should satisfy them. The 'E' thing that RUI mentioned sounds good as well which is kind of essential on brake pads. I've assumed that the E thing in the case of exhausts includes noise levels.
I'm quite impressed by the look of this backbox. I looking forward to a 'listen' of it.

This exhaust is made to the same dimensions as the OEM box so shouldnt attract the wrong sort of attention. Sound is sporty but not too loud.

Hi Neil I know your exhausts are posted as 1.2 and 1.4. But could you telle if these would fit/work on the 1.3 mj diesel??

OK have a look underneath the back of your car at the rear box if it looks like a similar shape to the one above it probably will.

The oval finisher on the TT Mk500 is 110mm wide by 80mm deep and is centred in the same place as the OEM pipe.

Is it me or is the box wonky?

Yes it does seem a bit out of level, but looking more closely, the videocam isn't level either & I don't think it's as bad as it appears!

There's nothing wrong with the box itself - it's a simple job to loosen the clamp & rotate the back box around the centre pipe so that it's dead square with the bumper, if such things are important to you.
