There is a large central open cubby below the dash in my 1968 Fiat 500L.

My vehicle has an ashtray, but no cigarette lighter receptacle.

A decision was made to add a dual USB surface mount receptacle in the top center of that dash cubby, to permit maintaining the charge in my iPhone and in my Bluetooth speaker, during extended vehicle operation.

The device I selected has one USB Type A receptacle and one USB-C receptacle, both covered by a spring loaded sliding door.

This was "easy" to mount / wire in the vehicle.

The small fuse panel has an empty 0.250 male Faston blade on the small fuse panel, on the fused side of a circuit having power when the ignition is ON. That USB surface mount receptacle was wired to that unused tab and to ground.

Now I have two USB cords dangling from that receptacle in my cubby.

One is a short Type A plug to Micro B plug, for maintaining the charge in my Bluetooth speaker. The other is slightly longer, with USB-C plug on one end and Apple Lightning plug on the other end, for maintaining the charge on my iPhone.
