Technical JTD not getting to temp

The old girl doesn't get warm as she should ( I know these diesels do take a fair time to get warm) she only manages to get to just over a quarter on the gauge. I will put the diagnostic tool on her to confirm the water temp but if she is running cool then - should I try

I have fitted one on my MG ZT CDTI and it works a treat.

anyone not heard of this it is just an inline stat pushed into the top radiator hose.

Or -- has anyone got a source of original stat at a good price.

Now waiting for the prophets of doom, what this might do to her, death famine and destruction, but I don't think it will make her overheat -- just might not be a success.

Has anyone else has tried it, was it a success??

Just do the job properly and replace the stat, it's only around £50.

Shop for parts is usually a good source for italian pieces. In fact......

Change the polen filter (under the dashboard - passenger seat side)

You might if the heater isn't working.. but the issue here is the engine temperature itself. It doesn't get warm, so the heater will also not be warm.

Swap the 'stat.. should sort it.

Common issue this time of year, Diesels take a little longer to warm up than their petrol bretherin, so a winters day is a great way to find out you kave a knackered thermostat thats stuck open.

Replace the thermostat and you will be sorted.

It's the thermostat I hadn't same problem, just replace it.
