General General Panda thoughts

Looks like I will have to sell the Madagascar, so I thought I`ll mention it here first.
I`m just looking to recover what I paid for it.
Here is the link to the original advert.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fiat-Pand...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
Comes with two brand new doors and a rear n/s quarter panel.
It will be sold as is less the front bull bar(it`s not original to the car anyway).
This is not for the faint hearted as the bodywork needs a fair bit of attention. It`s structurally very solid however and never been welded or bodged. The interior is beautiful and I had it running off an external feed. The engine sounded sweet.
If anyone is interested, just let me know.
I will do an advert later on and put it in the classifieds.

Freebo - you were annoyed you missed it first time - good things come to those who wait! ;)

Perhaps a little secret here... yes the early mk1 cams are MUCH higher lift than the later ones found in mk2's, Stilos etc, Yes, they give you more power etc...

But, having fitted 1.2 16v stilo cams into my cinq mk1 punto sporting engine (for diagnostic reasons initaly), i kinda think the lower lift cams work.....a little better for a day to day driver. The higher lift cams have the power at the top end, but the engine feels a bit flat unless you rev the nuts off it all the time, the lower lift cams seem to make the engine feel less peaky and more torquey, especially with the 1.6 brava TB (which probably regains you the 5bhp you probably lose with the cams anyway, so probably still running around 85bhp all the same).

I was talking ease of fitting though, Mk1 punto 60 engine is virtually plug & play for a spi Panda without having to work out how to get the extra bulk of the mpi gear or 16v heads to fit in, you can get away with the standard fuel pump and 60hp don't forget is still increasing the power by a third over standard, that's a pretty healthy improvement for what is still an easy to get hold of, cheap and unloved engine which goes in with minimal fuss. That's the one I fancy anyway, 16v looks a bit complicated and peaky for my liking.
