Hi - are any forum members keeping fuel consumption figures. I'm pretty disappointed in my TA 0.9 105bhp - its only averaging about 40 miles to the gallon. We bought it following promises of 70+ . Its a year old, done 10,000 miles.
Ignore the official figures when looking up fuel consumption
About right for a 105 I would have thought, if you make the effort to drive smoothly you'd get that up no problem but as typical 85 owners get mid 40's I'd say 40 is not surprising, it all depends on your journey type though, on my daily commute which takes in a bit of everything I'm getting around 48 on the trip in my 85 which is ok I guess. I've had it up in to the 60's on a long run and I'd say a 105 wouldn't be too far behind with a bit of self control!
i remember getting 40 MPG from an 2015 Audi A4 1.8 TDI rental over a few days. WOW that car was underpowered, a proper barge! 30,000 GBP for pure misery! less than 120 hp for a car weightng a good 1.5 tonnes!:yeahthat:
For the power & performance you get from a 105TA, 40mpg isn't bad at all - it's the gap between expectation and reality that causes all the disappointment.
The only way to have any confidence in what you'll actually achieve out of any new car today is to hire one for a weekend, drive it as you normally would, and take some careful measurements.
I was told 65mpg is to be expected from the 85hp.
