Hi guys,

I'm new to the forum and I've never owned a Fiat before. I recently bought a lovely little Panda 1.2 60bhp Eleganza (59 plate) in New Orleans blue. I have been reading recently about the 1.2 petrol engine being a non-interference engine but after asking Honestjohn and the AA technical advice line, both state the engine is interference.

I have gathered from my research so far that the 1.2 16v and later 1.2 8v (with 69bhp also fitted to the KA) are interference engines. However, many state the 1.2 8v (60bhp) engine to be a non interference unit.

I would love to clear this once and for all. I have the AA and Honestjohn telling me that the original 999cc fire engine was the only non-interference unit and they believe the newer 1242cc fire engine is now interference, regardless of 8v or 16v.

Does anybody really know?

Many thanks,
Matt.
