Technical Fault code software

Hi is it possible to down load free software to check if my fiat pinto has faults because it's running like poo having changed the head gasket. The engine light is flashing and the water light is on. I have bled the system. Would I also need a lead to connect laptop to engine? Many thanks

Software and cable type is in that guide, but you dont need to modify it to read engine ecu
