I think the biggest difference is German cars get looked after more generally as they're more expensive. VW acknowledge known faults and endeavor to fix them and their dealers are much better to deal with not leaving bitter tastes in customers mouths.

Fiat tend to ignore ongoing issues try to fix them on the sly and the dealers treat customers like dirt.

The dealer I used for the warranty work in the 3years and the extended warranty from warranty direct I could not fault at all.

Brilliant garage - we became on first name terms.

Does that include all the upgrades you did to it? Or was it all repairs?
I think you got a bad egg.
One that hadnt been looked after as ive never seen anyone having as many problems as you did.
And now you slate them really badly?
Not on really bud.

Care to expand on what the £5.5k was for and why you scrapped it? What age/mileage/variant out of interest?

I know you had some major problems mate but why did you keep spending money hand over fist? I never knew that you had spent £5500 just on repairs

Just plainly in repairs it was looked after serviced every 5000miles

Only the 1.9mjet mate i comment and like urs all time, dont want any1 to spend as much as i had to so would advise a tjet like i have been doing,

I do agree with the public it wouldnt be in the worst cars vote otherwise

I understand that mate but your a very small minority of people that had so many problems with the 1.9!!

It may not have been looked after by previous owners. Reuuks mjet has been good to him!
All cars have problems!

Yeah in 3 years or so, because i paid a lot for it and it kept braking and every time i thought nothing else can break lol

Gearbox, dual mass fly, 3 egrs, 2 manifold heat exchangers, all coolant pipes, boost hoses and pipe, allternator, 3 batteries lol, 2 turbos, starter motor, i blame it on build quality of tht model alone i love the looks of the punto i wouldnt of bought one if i didnt like them

Another turbo blew and engine may have been seized, was booked in for repair then when i went to the car to take it, it was all green black mouldy due to the stupid leaks it has all over the car, and i just thought enough is enough finally this car cant cost me any more

I've had a 500 for two years from new with no problems, but I was always hankering after Abarth. Sat in GP Abarth and it felt like coming home. Less of a fashion statement that 500 has become, more of a proper, small car. It was perfect for me and it still is (after 4 trouble free years). I do service it annually at Fiat/Alfa specialist and still love it to bits. I do believe that there is a perfect car out there for everyone, you just need to find it ;) It might not be Fiat though...:)

As a result of my parents buying a mk2 Punto back in 2005, I bought a mk2b in may 2010, and I loved it. In april this year, it developed a power steering fault that would've been expensive to put right, so I traded it in for a Grande Punto Eleganza. I've loved the styling since they were launched, and this Grande doesn't disappoint. It looks fantastic inside and out, and it's a lovely car to drive, with all the USEFUL kit I could possibly want. Hopefully, if the experiences me and my parents had with Punto mk2s are anything to go by, it will be a good, reliable car. I can quite honestly say that I have no desire to own anything but Fiats for the foreseeable future.
