I'd be really interested in seeing some photos of those repairs/reinforcements Ricky, for future reference it seems to me like a no-brainer getting it done pre-emptively knowing what we know about these cars and availability of spares. Maybe start a new thread with some photos? Glad you're enjoying your Panda

This the metal I would add to my spring pans. The funny shape could be taken further around but the original metal (while corroded) has not shown signs of trouble except under that repair piece. Weld all around but do not weld the LH to avoid it cracking along the new weld.

As standard this cracks along the weld. This weld reinforces the OEM weld along the opposite side. Standard welds are one side only.
