Hmm.. my new girl's Skyroof wont close completely off the key fob  she opens fully, then when you press close it only closes half way  It only closes fully off the dial inside, and also the shutter wont close fully, its as if there is something in there pushing it back to half open.. is this a usual problem (I wont ammo before I go back to the motor dealer I got her from)

Re: Skyroof

Almost every problem that occurs with skywindow can be resolved with a reset. You only have to press the button during 4 to 5 sec.

Yep, I had the same problem a week or so ago, you just hold the button/dial in for up to ten seconds and it resets.... They probably done the same thing and charged you £50

you may have saved yourself that money and hassle.... There's a thread on hear that covers it.

I may make a little video that could help with this silly little problem.

skyroof won't open

recently, when it was cold and icy, guess which idiot tried to open his skyroof and found to his amazement that it wouldn't open and hasn't opened since.the fuses seem ok so any help would be gratefully recieved.

Re: skyroof won't open

thanks argo, just gone out and reset the bloody thing and it works a treat.
thanks and all the best for 2007. :)

Re: skyroof won't open

I made the same stupid mistake and ****ed my sunroof. being a t-w-a-t I turned the knob when the roof was frozen solid in doing so i heard numerous clicking sounds.

Fixing my Skyroof / Sunroof [reset]

Hi All,

I just got a cheap deal on a Stilo, its a 1.6 dynamic with all the extras, including a sunroof that doesnt work! Its has the arbarth kit including 17' alloys and in my opinion looks better than any ford or vauxhall!

Anyway i've seen some really good articles here so i thought i would report on them and let you know what happens.

The first thing i need to overcome is the fact that the sunroof does not open at all, neither does the blind, the previous owner seemed to think its the motor, but its an expensive mistake if its not so i will try everying else first!

Also i think the blind uses a different motor? (can anyone clarify?)

My plan is to first do the full initialization sequence, and hopefully this will clear up the problem, but i doubt it! (having previously owned a GTV and Punto, italians make good engines not electrics!)

second to manually open it and clean as per thread;
https://www.fiatforum.com/stilo/72111-cleaning-sky-roof.html

also while its open have a good look around for anything out of place

lastly either take it to a mechanic to do more tests on switch and motor(expensive) or fit new motor (more expensive).

I actually pick the car up this afternoon form MOT, and i have yet to try opening it with the remote.

Thats my plan, if anyone can make any other recomendations or pointers to look out for while trying to fix this it would be much apreciated!

and i will have to wait till it stops raining !!!!

When playing with mine I’ve found the blind will continue to work even when the sky-roof doesn't.

So assuming it's nothing simple then I'd put all your effort into getting the blind to work which hopefully will be the same reason the sky-roof doesn’t. Checking if power is available is probably the first job after taking down the header console.

Good luck (y)

Hi All,

I tried the init sequence and bingo! all working, just a claen up now and its all good!

Not quite!

There are a couple of problems that i didnt notice when buying the car, the most annoying it the nav system will not play CD's, it plays one or two from my collection but thats it, it will not read MP3 files either, it says CD Error! My main concern is the system not being able to play the actual navigation CD, the guy said he had lost his when i bought it, and i dont like the thought of paying out £100 for a CD that wont play!

I cant seem to find anything on the forum, any ideas?

Something else i missed is the steering wheel buttons on the left of the steering wheel will not operate the nav system, will search out any posts relating to this.

Lastly i followed the guide for the passanger airbag warning light, and it didnt work , i'll try once more tomorrow.

At least i have the skyfoor working for the summer :)

i did mine yesterday as per argo's advice, before my blind used to stutter and get stuck at a certain part where the motor would the give it a good tug. its running smooth as butter now (y)

im amazed at the amount of crap that autoglym vinyl and rubber care lifted

i also de-greased re-greased the whole thing

Sky Roof stuck-Need help!

Hi basically the problem is that the other day while having the roof open-i went to close it from being fully open to fully closed it got to about halfway and wouldnt budge so i opened it fully and then closed it kind of made a creaking pressure noise and then finally closed, then i got out and went to where i was going-however on coming back i noticed that the last blade eg, the one closest to driver had not met with the other blades full at first, although that is not the problem it seems that all the other blades have diagnally slanted at one side pushing it all out of sync and not just buzzes and crunches when going to open and doesnt open atall.it could be it has somthing stuck in the rails possibly like a seed from a tree? if so how could i get this out with it not opening? also how do you manually open and close the roof?
i have done a simple paint drawing to show the problem excuse the number of slats as i forgot how many it has. Many Thanks

Re: Sky Roof stuck-Need help!

Pull down the centre roof console and you should find a winder inside.

You'll need to be extremely careful when you try to open the sky-roof with it.

If successful give it a jolly good clean and offer thanks to your favourite deity :D

Re: Sky Roof stuck-Need help!

I would get it looked at. Personally, I think it has come off the rails. Try to find a specialist in Webasto roofs as the skyroof is made by them. You could cause irrepairable damage if you are not careful.

Re: Sky Roof stuck-Need help!

thanks for the replies- i tried again before i came back on here and by resetting and the slats are now all in the correct position-however when going to open it, it still crunches and doesnt do anything. If its come off its rails could i not do this myself? how much would a garage charge?
cheers

Re: Sky Roof stuck-Need help!

Hi Mitchellinman,
It sounds like it needs a good clean as Argonougnt suggests.
I have also had problems with my skyroof.
Have taken it to a fiat dealer for inspection, its seized.
Fiat are will not take any reponsability for either parts or labour for its reoperation.
So I am left with a dilemma. I either drive the stilo with an inoperative sunroof or attempt to release it (lukily it is seized shut).
Anyway good luck with your roof.

Have any other sky roof owners had these problems, I assumed that when the car was serviced part of that would include attention to the skyroof or at least an advisory that it would need regreasing.

Re: Sky Roof stuck-Need help!

I rekon the cleaning greasing solution sounds about right. Doesn't sound like its off the rails afterall. When they are working, you should test your roof on a regular basis. All the way back and then closed a few times. This helps the grease penetrate the working parts and prevents siezing. It may be necessary to regrease on occasion also but not too much as this tends to attract dirt which can cause it to sieze.

I wonder if teflon spray would be any good?

Re: Sky Roof stuck-Need help!

Sod it, let's market it together an put £10 on the price ;)

http://www.ballistol.co.uk/html/product_teflonspray.html

Wow £13 per can now thats cheap!! (said in the Alliance & Leicester loan advert voice)

Who is going to try it first???

Also, this stuff works great on squeaky dashboards etc.

Re: Sky Roof stuck-Need help!

If you can see where there is an abrasion between any fittings that are squeaking, just spray a bit on, allow it work its way into the area, then wipe off any excess.
