My passenger door wont unlock when I use Remote unlock. I have to press it a few times or press the door unlock button inside or just open it from inside by hand.

Any ideas?

Also my battery went flat on the weekend and I had to find some allen keys to get the battery off, it might be worth other stilo drivers having these to hand in their car. Another issue was that the flat battery seemed to cause a Car Security Error to appear. Im starting to fear my Stilo now, its not quite as realiable as a Volkswagon.

I think you'll find it's all down to the battery. Stilos MUST be fitted with top quality batteries and the battery should be changed at the first sign of failure.

If your security issues don't resolve themselves then I'd get a Fiat dealer with access to Examiner to check it out

. . . nor anywhere near as expensive!

Rhys, best thing to do is install a new battery. This will no doubt cure the "Car Security Failure" which I had before changing battery.

As for the door lock problem, there are two possible causes;
1. Door Lock Mechanism; we had an issue where it would only work sometimes with the remote, and other times it wouldn't. Installed a whole new door lock mechanism and it has worked fine ever since.
2. Door connection; where the wiring goes into the door, there is a connector lock (grey bar). Lift that up fully, then remove the door connector. People have been advising to use a contact lubricant/cleaner on the pins, then reattach.

We could get into the whole "VW aren't as reliable as they seem" debate but it comes up on most Stilo threads anyway :p

Mucho Gracias!

I will have a look into it and let you know my findings.

I like my Stilo a lot but too many warning lights over the last couple of months. Ive just got used to the Airbag one now. (Realised you can turn the BEEP volume down in the settings which helps a little).

RROPE has it right....Should cost in the region of 55 quid upwards for a new battery. I had exactly the same problem as you and more (Windows / sky window.boot) all worked fine but not with remote....The Battery finally gave up the ghost after a long trip. Called the RAC to jump me , he did a volt test and bingo that was the problem.

Now, with the new battery everything is working fine.

Now come on Rich, stop being defensive :p

I've owned two VW's and they weren't that reliable (one bulkhead failed when using the clutch and the other blew the engine after dropping a collet).

Quite fun to drive though and I must admit their rear badges last longer than the Fiat ones do :D

Torx T40 actually;) (moderators can we have a 'nerd' smilie please) always make sure you put battery cover back on unless you want water in the fusebox.....not good.

I had the battery tested this morning. It was given this thumbs up. The guy said I probably have a battery drain somewhere. I have taken my Stereo out and will see if that makes any difference. (He said it usually is the Stereo)

Where was this done?? I used to test batteries at halfords using a digital analyser, and it would always say "Battery Good" if tested immediately. You should always leave your full-beam headlights on for 30-60 seconds to take the top charge off you put on getting to the test site (or longer depending how much of a journey you had). That then makes it test the real state of the battery.

Any more occurances of the door lock fault?

It was done at a retupable (spelling?!) place, a gargae in Newport. I will see if it starts after work and check it all and let you know.

Thanks

Rhys
