Hi I am a newbie so hello to everyone. Can you please tell me the correct radiator fan relay which is fitted on the fuse box. The problem I have is cooling fan wont switch of until I remove this relay. I found another spare used relay in the car with different numbers and I want to put correct relay in. Your help would be appreciated. Dave. Its a 2005 19jtd estate.

Cheers for that but there problem is fan wont switch on mine wont switch of so I have to pull out relay number 46520419 to switch it of then unplug wires to rear of fan then replace relay.

yes though your origenal post did ask for the correct relay details which are in post 2 of that link I gave which had the relay details and not related to your further information now given..now moving forward with this extra information of fan not switching off problem and not a relay then I suspect you may have corrosion of the fuse board which does occur if you use the car with out a fuse/battery cover fitted, also having had the issue myself of fan not turning off even when ignition turned off after being daft and driving in rain with no fuse cover, had to strip and clean the fuse board, also if you are pushing the relay in to far into the board it can also cause fan problems as the contacts make other un-wanted connections you should be able to see small plastic uprights to help prevent pushing the relay in too far...do you have a cover for the fuse/battery?? if not then as above suspect water damage to fuse board

No there is no cover and I have just had car jet washed so I will have a look tomorrow. Would WD40 help? and where can I get a cover from.? Thanks very much for your help it is appreciated.

I think the Jet Wash will answer the problem with the fan :)

Yes if you do not have a cover for battery/fuseboard stay away from water with it being a little warmer at moment you may get away with letting it dry out would stay away from wd40 at moment until the board area is working and dry then wd40 to protect..breakers and auction sites for cover which recommend getting quite expensive if you get new from fiat. hope it dries out if you have a garage leave bonnet open over night to help or use a hair dryer on it not a heat gun you will melt the board..if it still the same when dry then either case of stripping and cleaning any shorted contacts or source replacement board...avoid jet washes:) ooh and puddles in fact anything wet until cover fitted, you may be able to fashion up some heat proof item to get you by until cover sourced but make sure it is heat proof and secured firmly

yours wont turn off. mine wont turn on!.

remember there two different types of ECU on the rad if thats gone, 2001>2003/53 (has not black relay T7 and 2003-2007 (WILL have black T7)

get your battery fusebox cleaned and electrical contact cleaner (maplins £4) then go from there!

i sent the last 2months emailing and ringing people on ebay about battery covers on ebay, was one on there the other week for £40 the rest i emailed/rang have not got them on (been ripped off) got one on it way £23inc postage(y). ill text the guy im gettng mine from he had a couple in i think

Paul(y)

I have 2 battery fuse boards if anybody needs one. I had the same problem so many have had when it doesn't have a battery cover! Torrential downpour or big puddle and suddenly fan comes on after ignition is switched off. Swapped it out for another board whilst I dried the other one and sorted it straight away...I have the dried out one spare and one other if anybody needs one :)

I will do that. Tried this morning no problems (lucky) took for a long run the only problem engine light on. All I have to do is clear light and get fuse cover ASAP. Once again thank you for your help. Dave

The fault light may well clear itself for you after 3 fault free starts..though any fault codes will be stored in the car ecu should you get the codes read in the future then remember you will have stored codes from this issue..glad it dried out ok, stripping fuse board is bit of a task you would rather not have to do, yes certainly hunt down a cover for it, no idea why they vanish from some cars, when such a useful item to protect the electrics..
May also be worth allowing the car to warm up when parked in neutral and check the fan comes into action so you no everything is as it should be

I took it for an hour on the road on open road and country lanes temp was just under half all the way but I will check. I have searched internet for ages trying to find cover but may as well hit my head against a brick wall. Well thanks once again and if you do find a cover remember me. Cheers Dave
