Technical Climate Control Problem [and Fixing Guide]

I have the same problem in my mk2b Punto. Steering is on the left side. Do you think the climate system is the same as yours. I have dual-zone airconditioner. In winter right side is cool I can't control the heat, driver side is ok. I went to a Fiat dealer here in Turkey, they told me that they had to disassemble all the parts of the dashboard and of course it costs lots of money.

Hello everyone,

I am new here and I want to share a 'ghetto hack' I did today. The actuator on my climatronic got broken, so I've tried to fix it. I didn't have much time to test, but in the first run it worked. I'm not an expert in mechanics so I don't know how long this fix holds. Judge for yourself:

i wouldnt do this hack the whole point of the clips is to break off in case there is a malfunction. it would be alot worse if this clip didnt break and the brute of the force goes to the flap inside breaking it, thus you would have to open the whole a/c unit to repair it. the clips arent expensive better to change them than do this.

Stilatos, you are definitely right. I have already ordered two new actuators (46723329), they will hopefully arrive in few days so I can replace them. But after getting a cold yesterday because the heating didn't worked, I had to fix the issue really fast, therefor I did the hack.

I hope the new acutuators will fix following error codes:
B1906 Feet/chest motor feedback - signal high
B1907 Feet/vent flap actuator - invalid signal

There are also other errors I have:
B1927 Pollution sensor - signal high - no idea how to fix this
B1929 Control unit fault - hopefully nothing serious
Heated mirror passenger side - invalid signal - I will just change the heated mirror, like described here on the forum

Did someone tried to fix the pollution sensor already? Is the sensor located outside under the windscreen wiper, ePer number?

Wow, nice updates on this thread.
I'm sorry I didn't reply more, I thought this problem was affecting only a couple of us.
In fact, I took a little more time figuring the system out and my conclusions are similar to yours.
The blue is a potentiometer, true, it is a 4,7k ohm potentiometer. My was "misfiring" values because the track has weared out. The thing is that this potentiometer has an uncommon layout, therefore it's difficult to replace. The bad news are that we have like 4 or 6 of this on our climate control... now it's the time that we start yelling, "I should have gone for the manual climate type"...
When I have the time I will try to install a standard potentiometer or just start searching for a module of other brand. Those 6 things are a headache.

Regards to all.

Hi,

My Stilo hasn't had working climate control since I bought the car.

Today I hooked up MultiECUscan and got a long list of error codes!!!

Is the entire system just kaput? or is it worth me looking into/spending time on this?

I have attached the list, but have a feeling that there is just too much to repair/too expensive to do.

Hello everyone, yesterday I hooked up my car to FIAT ECUscan because on the driver seat the climate control is blowing only cold air and can't be adjusted no matter how high I set the temperature. The errors that came up were for the left side mixer actuator and for the feet vent actuator, oh and a sensor I guess it's the air pollution sensor, correct me if I'm wrong. I went through the whole topic atleast twice, but I didn't quite clearly understood which which number is the correct for the air mixer and which is for the feet vent flap. So if I'm right for the feet vent I have to order (46723329 - distribution) and for air mixture actuator (46723328 - misc.) Would you reccomend ordering the white adaptor levers too, the ones they connect actuators to cog wheels and are they one per order or a set per order?
It's a Stilo 1.8 if it's of any relevance.
Thank you in advance.

Just buy the part from Fiat for less than £9, much easier. The old broken piece does come out although you may have to split it to make it easier to come out.

That is not a good idea at all. What if the motor/actuator is malfunctioning somehow (which can be the reason the gear snapped at the first place) and just going on without stopping where it should. This might cause a fuse to blow constantly, or break the flap itself inside the airducts. That will be a dash removal job.

Remember, the Stilo is built around its first component: The climate control.

An addition to this thread. How to remove the right temp actuator. This is from a left hand driven car, so it's the passenger's side... The same actuator and function also exists on the other side of the console.

1. Rip of side panel in the footwell (pretty much the same on both sides by the way). This reveals this arm and actuator above. Actuator has 3 self tapping bolts (into plastic) and have the mysterious size of 5,5 (metric).

2. Pop off the arm, to prevent unwanted destruction.

2IMG_4609.jpg

3. As it is quite impossible to get to the 3rd bolt, removal of the glove box is necessary. And it saves a lot of time.

3IMG_4618.jpg

4. Location of bolts.

5. Difference in design and producer.

6. Change the pollenfilter while you are down under, twisted and in pain.

Hi,

My Stilo only blows air to the windscreen, nothing to the vents. Also this air is always "outside air temp", but it does randomly give heat (I'd say once every 50 car journeys). the controls change nothing except fan speed and I can hear a noise behind the radio which sounds like a flap trying to consistently open.

I checked the error codes and they are pretty much the ones in the post above.

All I want is heat (I don't care if air only goes to the windscreen) as its freezing lol and its currently a nightmare demisting the windows.

What would I have to fix/replace to get heat going to the windscreen?
