finally pulled the head off last night, after spark plug being chewed ...... one of the valves is inbeded into piston 3 ..... not good, guess its a new second hand lump for me then

so its a 16v and the timing belt suspect slip by any chance?

yeah mate, bought it with a bodged engine mount cheap enough just over £300 for 52 plate, repaired it started the car up and it ran like a bag of nails ... was sweet when i went to see it. can only think as the tension released on the belt, it has slipped and done this .... oh well we learn by costly mistakes eh :bang:

Is it not worth you looking at a recon head? Or wack a second hand lump in, I'm sure fingers99 or someone said you could probably fairly cheep £100-200 engine from a scrappy?

think i can get away with the head being skimmed but the bottom end is a different story ... will try and get pics up here of it
