Well I'm having a crack at mine this morning! Wish me luck! need some circlip pliers to tighten belt back up apparently?? Going to get one anyways. Just get ready for a thread asking what to do when everything is fooked up!!

Best of luck dude! I've got my fingers crossed for you it all goes okay! Let me know how you get on!!! Feedback on how difficult/easy certain bits are would be ace! Did you get yourself some axle stands in the end? I really think you should use some!

Ok yeah, done that. thanks, now i can't get crankshaft sprocket off!! Keeps just turning and think I've lost my timing now!! Any way of getting it off without locking the flywheel?

You'll need to lock the flywheel to tighten it up anyway. As I said, earlier, any other way of locking it will strip the locating pips off one of the pulleys (which will result in infinitely variable valve timing -- not something you want).

So, if you've not taken the timing belt off yet, just turn the engine till the marks line up, remove the bottom flywheel cover (2 or 3 bolts) and make something to lock the flywheel up. Needs to be pretty strong (I've used a piece from a small 3 legged puller in the past, packed out with washers, but I think there are other ideas in the Haynes.

In the haynes manual it states that you can make a improv tool out of 2 strips of metal. with some m6 bolts... if i remember rightly!

Ye, the camshaft and crankshaft are in different postions now though. So wouldnt they only turn with each other. Also the cranshaft I can hardly make out any markings. It had a small sticky out bit on the sprocket but no notch where there should be at 11 o'clock. Camshaft sprocket has a white line on edge and an arrow on inside of it. I lined it up with the white line
