Pump not running 3 pin plug has earth and 6volts to it & 1 pin no feed.
Cant find how its fed but JTD book says they are 12v dont want to put 12V on and blow it as may be speed control ? as would not expect pump to run on full power all time engine running. Any clues folks
Thanks Mick

If your van is indeed a 2.8 TDi (rather than 2.8 JTD) then the 3 wire connector is for the fuel cut-off solenoid and its associated PCB (the pump being mechanically driven from the cambelt, so will only run with the engine)

The power supply for the PCB/solenoid comes via the immobiliser aerial located near the steering lock(unless van has been 'modified'!) but I'm not sure how many volts this should be.

With all due respect, if you're not sure whether your van is TDi mechanically injected or JTD common rail perhaps it's time to seek professional help;)

Edit: to add if you were posting because the van won't start then this is quite likely to be a problem with the immobiliser. If you run a search on the forum there are quite a few threads on how to bypass this (but does require a bit of mechanical and electrical dexterity)

Thanks for reply Crosskeeper. Is TDI not JTD seems TDI does not have fuel pump in tank like the JTD has but little info available on TDI, would be nice to get a CCT diagram "ducato 94" only gives details of how to order a new harness and see if that cures your problem !
Problem was the famous 6 wires A653 unit under the glove compartment.
Italian translation calls it a "damper" , I find it smooths out the wobbles in the tank float units due to rough roads etc.
Its has two delay/ averaging ccts in it one for Empty lamp and one for gauge.
Have done detailed tests will post in forum correct area later. Gives a true reading when switch engine on but once running reverts to delay/averaging in order to stop gauge and empty light flashing etc due to bumps and inclines. 100 ohms on float switch is 1/2 full on gauge have done full range and volts etc will post later.
Weird Italian translations, "Data cell" means wiring harness, I suppose it does send info to the lights etc ! Remote control means a Relay.
Regards
Mick

My apologies, I was thinking you meant the injector pump rather than the one in the tank, sorry to cause any confusion re. the fuel cut-off & immobiliser (just that this had been a problem on my van!)

Apologies for jumping on this thread but I have the same problem, would anyone be able to provide me with the location of the fuel pump solenoid or a diagram showing where it sits. My engine is the 2.8td 1999 model.
Thanks in advance

Regarding the fuel cut off solenoid as in relating to the "immobiliser" I suspect your age of vehicle it is behind a metal cover held by security snap off head bolts, there are several threads on Forum regarding this, but basically there is a circuit board with several wires going to it behind that cover. It is where the four injector pipes come from the high pressure pump going to the injectors. If unable to replace any faulty parts it may be possible to revert to the original cut off method which is providing or stopping power to the solenoid it's self behind that cover with a single terminal , it may look something like this photo.
No specific advise on your model, but earlier versions of those engines had a mechanical lift pump driven by the engine to feed the high pressure injector pump, on my Iveco Daily's with those engines the later ones had an electric pump on the chassis rail.
However if nothing obvious I suspect it would be in the top of the fuel tank, especially if no visible fuel filter.
Yours would be at something of a change over period and if a camper conversion build date may not be the same as registration in log book / V5.

@Mikekaren2 ,

The problems previously mentioned in this thread seem rather vague. Please define your problem if not already covered by @bugsymike in post #6.
