Punto (Mk2/2b) My 8v Punto Project

Introduction

Hey everyone, been lurking round this site for far too long without making any posts or showing my car. This is more of a way to document what I've done to my car but if it helps anybody else out or they enjoy reading through it then that's great also :).

Mods List:
ASH Induction Kit
50mm Lowering Springs
Cherry Bomb exhaust (I know, I know, but there's a silencer in my mid pipe so it's only just louder than stock.)
OMP Race Wheel
OMP Boss Kit
Jet fuel colour steel gear knob
Black Fly Eye headlight tint
Plastidipped front & rear badge
Rear De-wipered

Future mods:
MK2 Active Sport rear tailgate
17's (possibly)
Get a few of the dings and dents sorted out.
Red/Yellow callipers (can't decide on a colour)
Alfa Seats? (not sure which ones fit or how easy they are to put in)

Alright, only got a few pictures as I only lowered it a few days ago. Plus, I'm halfway through taking the scrub strips off. (which are a pain in the arse?)

Ignore the abarth sticker, it was on when I bought it and I just haven't got round to removing the thing yet!

Cheers,
Lucas :)
A couple little updates:
Seat cover, until I find some nice replacement seats

Finally managed to get the scrub strips off with the help of a caramel wheel drill bit tool

I also tried fitting a huge chequered vinyl to the roof. It didn't go well, no matter what I did it just had bubbles and the closer I got the the middle of the roof the worse it got. Might have to leave that job to the professionals!

Welcome aboard mate, she looks lovely!

Still undecided on de-striping mine, kinda scared the paint underneath will be different or screwed!

Appreciate the warm welcome!

I was in the same boat, I stripped mine off and unfortunately, the previous owner used some no nails and it's pulled a bit of lacquer (I think) off on one side of the car. Nothing too noticeable, but still a bit annoying.

But, if you take the strips off and you find some different coloured paint or something worse, you can always stick them back on ??

Yeah true, will wait for the fairer weather now I think!

Best of luck with the motor mate, keep us updated.

Another small update:
Bought some wind deflectors, I reckon they'll really tie the look of the car off when I get the windows tinted.

I'm saving up for a holiday which is why the updates aren't huge ?? Was wondering, I have loads of black plastidip and was thinking if it was worth doing the wheels? Not too sure if they'd look any good? Opinions welcome ?

I'm also really tempted to buy a roof rack just for the looks haha.

I've seen a few motors with wheels plasti dipped and imo it does look cheap. Platidip is good for trim and badges tho.

You can get a set of wheels powercoated for £100 now days and looks miles better.

Yeah fair enough, doubt you will ever get a nice finish. do you have a thread about your Punto? I'd love to have a look bud.

So, I ended up with a spare day, I decided (against advice :)) to plastidip my wheels, it's not a permanent thing, I just wanted to see what it'd look like with black wheels. If I like it I reckon I'll get them powder coated a more glossy black, as the satin finish is a bit flat.

Using the last bit of daylight I could find:

Not too sure on black, I've seen a few Puntos with anthracite wheels and they look the dogs ********

You can barely see the design of the wheel :(

They look alright in the picture mate.

Pretty sure you can get a glossifier to spray over the top of plasti dip?

Perhaps give that a try?

Cheers, but it's too late buddy, they've already started peeling off ? British winters aren't the best for plastidip that hasn't fully hardened!

Deffo going to get them powder coated like you said, gonna go for a glossy anthracite in the summer. The finish is top notch and you can't complain for the price at all.
