Panda (Classic) My 4x4 - The Muddy Pics!

Introduction

Hey everyone as I've only just joined I thought I'd post some more pictures to show you lovely lot what we're all about up here in the bleak North.

Both me and my mate have Pandas, mine's the '87 and his the '89, both Italian Racing Grey.

As I've previously said, although we put the Pandas through their paces we take good care of the old lasses because we want the fun to keep coming.

I hope you enjoy the pics as much as we enjoy making them! :D

Some of these pics are from a while ago, I'll get some new ones up soon :)
I am looking forward to the ride out to meet you guys are you coming in yours John?

Alot of the lanes around our area are easily accessable with a 2wd car, there are only a few sticky bits and these can be avoided so if anyone would like to have a ride out with us one weekend just get in touch :D

Panday 5: Green laning.

I'd bring the Selecta, shes a rally bred champion. (y)

Sounds great to me lad the more Pandas the better!!!

Anyone is welcome in any vehicle to come down some green lanes with us, but just remember this...

Big trucks get stuck...

...and little Pandas get through!

Anyone who hasn't had the chance to have a go in a 4x4 really should see what they're capable off - they are fantastic little cars and brilliant off road. Anyone who tells you that Panda 4x4s are toy off roaders really doesn't know what they are talking about.
My friend who has the other grey '89 Panda used to work for North Yorkshire off road club, he's had all the Landarovers, Discoverys Troppers etc. and now has the Panda, he says it's the best of them all!

Here's a pic from one of the events...

:D

...AND here's the latest video from the last trial we did...

They are good, but lack of ground clearance was the issue for me, I didn't like to do anything too adventurious in mine as I was scared of clouting the underside on something, I suppose the lift you have makes it better. Its why I have a Land Rover aswell. I'd love to join in on a green laning trip but I'd be in my Defender.

You are right 100 % - and also welcome to join us any time (y)

@VmanC you are very welcome for a spot of green laning!

After watching your video I'm no longer sure ;).

If Panday 5 can involve some Panda friendly green laning I'd gladly make the trip, not because I don't want to do the serious stuff, I do, it's just that I want to get good money for two of my 4x4's and show the third! Plus I don't want to have to get the train home.

One day I will get round to building a proper offroad Panda, one day.

Well Nitro Warrior has just put an ideal candidate in the classifieds but this little project is still a long way off for me unfortunately.

I know it IS ideal! I'm going to regret selling it I really wanted to get it back in the game, i'm increasingly reluctant to use my good Panda seriously off road and the white one would be perfect :( But realistically I have had those grand plans for 8 years now...

No you are right, granted the video is rather extreme - he just wanted to show the Landy boys that the Pandas are made of strong stuff!

The dunking at the end is the main reason for my friend's Panda requiring an overhaul, but we've bossed it now.

I think it's a great idea for you guys to make an extreme off roader, but I also have mucho respect for keeping them fully tidy and in show condition. We love doing the offroad thing, so the cars may not look 100% tidy but they are well serviced regularly and kept in good roadworthy condition :)

Great Video - good to see what these little tykes can get up to!

Bit of an edit @ 3:30 - did it get stuck :p

I'll come along providing I don't have to listen to that dreadful music :yuck:

Ha the music is the just fantastic! :slayer: (y)

As for the edit, the rules of the RTV Trial (Road Tax Vehicle) is that you are aloud to stop and put it 1 shunt to change direction, if you still can't get around a corner you must stop and raise your hand signalling that you are unable to complete that section - it's pretty much like trialling on a motor bike where you get marks knocked off for putting your feet down.

Yes I'd be up for a bit of green laning too. Long way up, but if a few were going we could make a weekend of it. (y)

Started off thinking that the 4x4 stuff wasn't too bad in the vid, but it rapidly went extreme. Mine's not a pampered 4x4 but I do spend quite a lot on the bodywork (or did last year anyway!) - not bothered about mud etc, but wouldn't be prepared to wreck the paint or tear off the underbits!!

Re: Some new pics from the weekend's mudfest!

From the pictures it seems that you always go first, before all the Landys. Is that because the Panda needs to clear the way for them? (y)

That is 100% correct my friend - also it means when they get stuck, I can pull them through (y):D

Back in the real world, it is because they don't have a clue where they're going!
