Going to study accountancy at university in September, currently working as an accounts assistant as a 'summer job' too and it's quite enjoyable.

Wondering if any FF members studied this or are accountants

You must realise, that if you become an accountant, you'll be ignored by most of the population, seen as a pariah by some, and we all on here may never talk to you again.

Just joking.

If numbers are easy to you, and you can get your head around the rules and legislation, it looks like a lucrative career. Even bankrupts need accountants. So good luck.

I know of 2 on here.. but I'll let them introduce themselves..

Something I wish I had the motivation to do so I don't have break my back doing manual work when I get really old

You do realise it is compulsory to have your sense of humour removed on qualification.

Bear in mind that "Accountancy" is a very wide subject once you get past the various recognised qualifications.
I am no expert but you could specialise in cost and management accounting,
or to all intents and purposes "book keeping" to name but two.
The best accountants I have met have been chartered accountants but have then specialised in a certain area such as manufacturing, or logistics or retail for example. They then use the fundamentals of sound accountancy policy and then dovetail that with how to run a business successfully.
So they become active participants rather than just score-keepers.

Correct. It's apparently a very painful operation too.

Ulster University here in N.I.

I was supposed to start University of Liverpool for Architecture last year, it was all ready too... Had a last minute change of heart though.

In hindsight I've learned so much this past year and discovered accountancy which I oddly seem to like more than even a keen student probably does! So it hasn't been as much 'throwing my life away' as not going to Liverpool last year felt at the time!

Law sounds hard alright!!!
