how can i find out if a car is scrapped without doing a HPI check? would dvla tell me if i phoned them?
You can do a vehicle check on the dvla website that will tell you when it was last taxed. Don't know about finding out about officially scrapped tho.
Boo, I'll PM you a reg I know has been scrapped, and you can find out what it does.
BEAU says (22:12):did u see my kn*b?
Jamie says (22:12):
Well, I am soon to be Mrs Monk.WTF has boo been upto? getting off on webcam eh?
lol, its not in a scrap yard, its for sale somewhereYou could always search every scrapyard in the country.
well i did say, so if it is scrapped, it can be put back on the road and she said yes, it might not be scrapped! but im not sure.Hang on Beau, that doesn't sound right. Once a vehicle is registered as scrapped that's supposed to be it - the end. The whole point was to stop 'ringing' of stolen cars using the ID of a scrapped vehicle. I thought the regulations had changed so that once a vehicle was registered as scrapped the number plate and chassis number were null and voided on the DVLA system.
I'd double check on this as I'm fairly sure you've been given incorrect information. Are you sure she doesn't think you're just trying to apply for a replacement log book for a non scrapped car?
Perhaps if you could give us a bit more information about what exactly you are looking at buying perhaps we can give you a bit more advice. Is this an insurance write off - Cat A, B or C? Or does it just need a VIC check?
And what are you doing looking at buying another car?!!!!!
