Technical Steering wheel cover

No mate I would advise you to disconnect the battery and leave it for a fair few hours. You need to insert two steering wheel air bag removal keys.

Not something I personally would be attempting as you cpuld damage the steering wheel air bag. Are you wanting to remove the steering wheel cover to fit a Red Fiat Badge or an Abarth badge etc?

No mate trying to find out where this creak is comming from could it be behond here?

Jake

Could the 'creek be coming from your top mounts, drop links or drive shaft its self mate, not overly sure you will ger a creek from anything behind the airbag cover tbh mate ;)

Will both drive shafts need doing or just the one? If it is them? Also will they creak? When turning

Does it sound like this...?

That's the sound of a "cosmetic" problem with the steering shaft, specifically "something" catching inside (all "official descriptions" from my local Fiat garage.

It poings at lower speeds, and doesn't interfere with the steering or anything.

Wow... Nothing amazes me anymore with random noises a GP makes...

I would not bother removing the airbag cover as I don't think it's anything to do with that.

Sounds like it could be steering column related.

I thought that because I can hear it more in the cockpit than the head at side of the wheel how do I check my steering column?

Okay, that's not sounding like Top Mounts (which tends to twunk-twunk-twunk).

Sadly, I don't recall hearing that sound on the various videos I watched when working out what my poing was.

Me neither its so weird its only done 30000 miles so I dont think it can be anything major but I hope its just a bush or a spring not sat right

It can be something major... They don't like their own steering columns. Had one replaced myself under warranty.

It could be the motors for the power steering as they are electric.

Personally I wouldn't be driving it to much as you don't want steering failure. I'm not saying it will but it will need looking at ASAP to minimise any risk to yourself and the public.

I keep having it looked at mate but noone is telling me what it is apart from I think its comming from the rack maybe power steering motor maybe column im not getting amywhere

Depends on where your taking it.

A local mechanic might not be specialised enough for the electric steering set up.

You might have to get a main dealer to try and diagnose and pay the charge for checking and do it else where. I remember reading on here about a company that specialises in Punto steering
