General M32 Gearbox in t-jet 150

Just spent £2200 getting my noisy gearbox and clutch sorted on my Mjet sport with 28000miles on the clock. When the gearbox was stripped parts of some teeth found to be missing and the dual mass flywheel was also about ready to fail. This is not the M32 gearbox, so you pay your money and take a chance with any box.

Nothing wrong with a M32 on a Bravo Sport t-jet. The problem is that the gearbox was put under cars with much more torque than it could handle, like Alfa JTD and Opel OPC/Vauxhall VXR engines. The maximum torque for the box, is 320NM. Thats why it got such a bad reputation.

On the dutch Bravo forum there a ZERO complains from Bravo Sport owners about there gearboxes!! No wonder, because the max NM of the T-jet 150 is, even when chiptuned, below 300NM.

Even though almost everyone on this forum that has over 50k miles on the clock has had issues with it?

my 2008 150T Sport is on 67k and there is bearing noise on the over run on 6th and 5th, the advice ive had from a fiat dealer is run it till it pops and source a recon box, as their experience of getting the box fettled has often thrown up problems later down the line due to the box not being put back together properly, often meaning replacing the box anyway. This dealer outsourced any internal gearbox work.

it also had a fluid change at 57k when the clutch went and i had to change it.

I talked with mechanic for gerboxes yesterday and he said that he never has any claim for his job.

He works for official workshops as Fiat/Opel as extern.

He said 4 bearings are the problem
55181940 x2
55574107 x2

Price for repair and parts is ~315£ + extra for dismount + mount gearbox.

I should think what to do.

Out of interest, which MJet engine do you have in yours? I have a feeling my 1.6 is whining in 3rd and 4th gears at 43000 miles, and there is someone else on here who has had the same problem on their 1.6.

Where is reverse located on your selector? I didn't think the 1.6 had the M32 box

It's in the bottom right, next to 6th. Definitely doesn't have the M32, think its the C530. But there is someone on the forum who has had the bearings for 3rd and 4th replaced. Trying to establish if there is a trend.

Unlikely to be the same issue, those 6 speeds are fairly bullet proof, got one in our Stilo with 140k on the clock.

That's what I thought - but it definitely has a significant whine in third, and a slightly quieter one in 4th, that stops when the clutch is depressed. Classic sign?
