Hi i hope some one can add some thought on this before i seek a garage, the cars a 57 bravo Mjet sport done 138k.
problem is coming home yesterday i went to overtake & nothing there, previous to this every thing was normal, no strange noises or anything, plenty of power.
had to crawl home at high revs in low gears to get it to pull accelerating is taking for ever & no boost after the magic mark so i don't think its EGR related,
i also noticed that when i floored the accelerator i got quite a bit of black smoke may be suggesting its putting the fuel in but its not getting burned, engine sounds spot on not missing a beat idles beautifully. i am seeing a bit of oil around one of the turbo hoses the one on the right looking under the bonnet but it looks old & full of grime not fresh. im using a small amount of water too which im monitoring but nothing showing up in the oil or puddles under car. that's only about half inch a month. by the way i have no engine light on either.
any help appreciated.

Sounds like a boost leak.

Easiest way to check is to plug in a bluetooth dongle that allows you to display the real time boost on your phone.

If it were a blown turbo, you would normally hear it making some strange noises before / after it goes...

thanks for your help guys, just picked the car up from my local garage all done & goes like the clappers again, the problems they came across on investigation were, there were some discrepancies in the MAF readings, they unplugged & test drove & no difference, so they moved onto the EGR as they said when they test drove once the car finally made 3500 revs the turbo finally kicked in but it relay struggled to get there, any way they stripped it down cleaned everything, they even have a little machine that drives the solenoid in & out repeatedly whilst lubricating all the moving parts, they put it all back together & test drove & all appears back to normal if not better. they said if it goes again after a short time it may need a new one, the damage was £127 so cant grumble relay, i was expecting turbo's & stuff. i wish i tried cleaning the EGR my self now first as did that once before on my alfa GT, but the symptoms were a little different so kind of thought it cant be that. but once again thanks for your input. i cant believe how much it killed the cars power, it was like riding up hill in 18th gear on a push bike.

mabe i got no boost as i had a car full of passengers & i dont think it quite made the point where it started to spool up. also i didnt want to hammer it too much & make it even more poorly.
